Do wives ever refer to their husbands as "my better half"?

i was thinking how there are guys I know who refer to their wives as "their better half" but never heard this expression used by a woman. Of course, i don't mean the personality aspects or maybe someone's wife may have more empathy (at least most would like to believe this...its not true...the only true-romantics in the world are men from AH to Shakespeare to Elvis).

anyone ever heard a wife say that? my better half took care of buying the house or whatever?

Agreed. NEVER heard a female use that phrase. When I hear a man say it I cringe. It's beta male behavior, similar to some cuck saying "happy wife, happy life." Ooffffffffff

what I find upsetting is that these men expect YOU to give them an "aw shucks...aren't you just a helluva husband!" feedback of some sort.

I swear next a guy says that I'm gonna say "but I thought your wife was just a housewife? aren't you the one who's always paid the bills?" or something equally toxic.

Wives view their husbands the same way cats view their owners.

It's one of those phrases that exist because the opposite is assumed. Similar to stuff like "black is beautiful" or whatever. Male is the historically dominant gender, so your wife's value must be verbally stated.

When I meet women I refer to them as hembra and myself as superior macho alfa. Then I ask them what they're doing out of the kitchen. They either chimp out or get turned on

When I was in grad school, these married professors would consistently refer to each other as "My better half" when referring to the other Dr. Suchinsuch, thought it was endearing asf brah

Yeah, I get it. I hear people use it a lot and it doesn't bother me, but I don't love it either.

I always speak positively about my wife, I think she's overall a better person than me (kinder mostly), but I still don't like to compare in casual conversation. She always speaks positively about me as well, at least when I'm around, lol. She's better at some stuff; I'm better at others.
