Is life after 30 just one long depression to the grave?
38 here
-Norwood Rekt since my early 20's, I thought that was the worst thing that ever happened to me
-Yesterday, I measured my height and I lost 0,5 cm in heigt, and my wife did not console me, it was frightening, I felt like if I had terminal cancer she also wouldn't lose 5 seconds of thought over it, she simply did not care (and not in a good way)
And Miscers are just laughing at me about it all
Is every day of my life just going to be worse than the previous henceforth? What is the purpose of life after 30? People usually cope by bragging about material wealth and security, but even that is out of reach in the 21st century we are having to stress out over the price of eggs and meat, let alone a nice house which is north of 1 million euros/dollars

I am truly convinced that traditionally, in the baby boomer generation for example, men would get satisfaction out of the material wealth and security they had built for themselves (sports cars, vacation houses, luxury watches etc) and they would usually also have children through which they could relive their life somehow
But now the economy is totally fucked, I can't even enjoy my food without regretting the expense, and I don't have children, and feel I couldn't afford them either

Some people don’t even make it to 38 and would do anything to be in your position.
In saying that I’m 36 and understand where you’re coming from. I try and practice gratitude for making it this far but it’s tough.
Recently I’ve been trying to cope with the concept of biological vs chronological age. The plan is to live a healthy and low stress life in hopes of reducing my biological age. The idea is that it’s better to be a late 30s year old guy who is healthier and looks better than an unhealthy late 20s year old who looks old…. I understand this could be coping on my end to the highest degree and I am aware father time always wins.
There are other things that I do to cope as well and that includes getting a hair transplant, looking into anti aging peptides and a good skin care routine that focuses on collagen production and remodelling.

You're depressed because you have no purpose. Your life probably sucks because you're lazy and don't follow your aspirations. You have so much life until you're dead, why do you decide not to take risks and live a fulfilling life?

Bro you have a wife
You don't even know what depression is until you're 39 and alone. Your wife may not care but at least there's someone there to distract you and already chose you as you deteriorate. If anyone should be depressed its me.
Edit:
Ok I changed my mind, the 32 year old up above fucking escorts is the one who should be depressed lmao

"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

May sound like cope, but think in many ways it has gotten better since that age.
You can still choose to stay fit, groomed etc...but looks and external validation due to it is not as important. That makes things less stressful, and you also open up to appreciate other things more important. True friendships - not the superficial ones of bar hopping days.
Maybe you had time enough to look inward as well and dictate things from there if makes sense. Figure out interest, hobbies etc and live by your own terms instead of trying to fit into some mold or hold on to the past.
Well, enough of my ghey ramblings.

That's my expectation.
At age 29, I already feel like my best days are behind me. All of the major milestones ahead are fundamentally meaningless cope like accumulating more material wealth (as you mention) or a landing a higher status career. Like anybody gives a fuck. Really, it's just a waiting game until retirement, when I'll finally be able to reclaim my freedom.
The days of peak aesthetics, athletic performance, creativity, mental acuity, energy and even close personal relationships are fleeting. From here on, most of us are forced to reckon with the inevitable biological and social decline.
The only way I see to delay this is to have children. Unfortunately, most modern men are unable to do so either because they can't attract a woman, or they can't afford to provide for kids. The latter is my problem and the way society is changing, I don't know if I'll ever make it.
Being in your 30s is certainly better than being in your 40s or older, but IMO it's the beginning of the end.

Then you bought a house in 2024 and if you divorced neither can afford the mortgage on your own, you would have to sell the house... except you owe more than its worth because it dropped in value.
