So much for the deal maker. 4+ gas will be the norm from now on.
When biden was president, high gas prices we're bad. Now that Trump is president, the message from Trump supporters on this board is, if you can't afford gas prices being high, then you're a poor shmuck. Talk about a winning message! MAGA!

Biden was lucky that gas peaked in summer 2022 and went back down by Election Day
GOP might as well rope if gas is $5 in November

A slow decline is still a decline, it eventually leads to the same place that a fast decline would. Real change happens when rock bottom is hit. Rip off the bandaid, and let's hit rock bottom.

Don't get mad because he started a useless war that he can't win and fucked gas prices.Don't start complaining until it's ten dollars, a gallon and hyperinflation kicks in. Never mind blue collar workers who use dies diesel. If it doesn't affect you personally, then who cares? This is the exact kind of selfish boomer fox news attitude that make me want to see republicans get demolished in november

Just because your lifestyle didn't change doesn't mean that a chit load of people aren't going to be seething over high gas prices (high gas prices make people go fookin crazy over pretty much anything else)

Also, let's say this is "temporary" and gas goes drastically down before midterms, which seems to be highly unlikely at this point, but let's say it does. The war in Iran ends. What do you want to see Iran agree to in a deal for you to consider that this was all worth it? The "temporary" economic burden caused by the Iran war

I don't like President Trump, however
1) If we're so weak as a country that we can't handle prices going up 50% that's just pathetic. We have become incredibly decadent and unwilling to tolerate even the smallest amount of hardship.
2) In a market economy prices will eventually correct even if the Strait stays closed forever.

I think the question right now is, not IF the Strait stays closed forever, because it won't be. It will be opened up eventually, but HOW will the strait be operated going forward? If it's under Irans control, this is a humongous L for the U.S., and it will have some serious geopolitical consequences for U.S. foreign influence going forward. Trump basically shot America in the foot if this ends up being the case, something that didn't need to happen.
