ITT, I explain why investing is a scam.

I invest 1 dollar. Inflation happens. Now everything that once cost 1 dollar costs 2 dollars. So my stock is now worth 2 dollars.

I sell the stock. The government says I profited 1 dollar. They tax me on it.

But I didn't profit. I broke even while they destroyed the dollar.

That's the pro investing argument. You're arguing against holding cash, you just don't know it.

What he failed to mention is that after paying tax, his gross profit is still way up from his initial investment. Investing is the only way to beat inflation

Thank God every company doesn't grow at the exact same rate of inflation while also matching the exact same rate of dollar devaluation.

So you're arguing against a 70% return on your dollar post tax?

I agree in not investing cash where you're generating a negative return on borrowed cash.

OP is making the argument against letting your money sit there in cash.

That’s why I NEVER keep cash. I’m always investing in new clothes, jet skis, vacation, fancy meals etc.

Not going to lie, debating buying a jet ski right now. The problem is that I have no room for it and would need to buy storage. The problem with the obsession with investing is that people get too into it and forget that their money doesn't go with you when you die, and forget to also enjoy some of it now. (Super Ded fkn Srs)

I always feel the compulsion to buy more pieces of something than I need, just in case there is argemeddon like society collapse and I can't get the item anymore.

Like last week I ordered 4 bibles when I only need one. Now I regret it and want to send back 3 of them. Same for other items in my basket that time. I ordered like 5 copies of another book and 5 more of another one.

Wtf
