First few episodes do have a lot of cringey/cheesy dialogue in it. The show started hitting its stride around halfway through season 1 and really hit it in season 2

It's pretty well layered too. You like Tony even though he's a total piece of shit and deserves all he gets. The DiMeos seem legit at first, but it becomes apparent later on that Carmine was 100% right about them being a "glorified crew."

That kerb stomping scene was hard as fuck, but also illustrates Tony should've been a mid-level enforcer at best. Not a boss. It's implied he was a solid captain.
