Not that I’m a fan of Cornyn but isn’t Paxton a scandal ridden dumpster fire? He could actually lose Texas due to that combined with Talarico having a last name that could pass for being Spanish

Because Trump's coalition has basically collapsed and Talarico has a name that can pass as Hispanic.

When Trump's approval was in the tubes in 2018, Beto O'Rourke came close to winning against Ted Cruz, pretty much due to Trump backlash and Hispanics coming out for Beto because of his Hispanic nickname.

Beto O'Rourke was way more popular than this guy, and he's now completely out of politics just a few years later.

You gotta remember how much Dem money was pumped into that race in 2018, and it was still a 3% victory. Nowhere close to that amount of money is available this time around, and he's an objectively much worse candidate.
