Former CIA official arrested - cash, gold, Rolexes, falsified time sheets

FBI agents also found $2 million in cash and 35 Rolex watches inside his Virginia home.
David Rush told investigators the gold bars were tied to “work-related expenses” over several months.
He spent nearly 20 years faking degrees from Clemson and RPI, plus false claims that he served as a Navy pilot.

There are a lot of missing pieces here.

How the fuck does a guy like this waltz from 18 years enlisted into an SES position (the civilian equivalent of a general officer)?

How did he claim to be a captain and navy test pilot when both of those should have been easy for the government to verify? And the missing college degrees? Did they verify even a single part of his resume for a job presumably requiring, at a minimum, a TS/SCI clearance?

Why did they hand him over $40m with no accountability?

If it is all on Trumps watch we know it is all clown world-insurance claim handlers with no federal case experience get to lead witch hunt federal prosecutions no lawyer will touch for him, right-wing podcasters who kissed his butt get to run the FBI-when there were far better candidates, seasoned journalists are banned from pressers & replaced with grifter influencers/cheerleaders posting 15 second propaganda sound-bites of him on TikTok etc. Trump is likely pissed he didn't get the chance to nick them himself.
