Isn't it crazy that everything we do is ultimately pointless?

Since in the end, we all die and everything that is built eventually gets destroyed

I find this concept hard to completely wrap my head around

How does one cope with these realizations?

I don't find it hard to process, or at least I haven't for a while.

Figure it allows you a life of relative hedonism - whether that's the traditional absolute pleasure-seeking sex, food, drugs, etc. or your own definition of pleasure through family, hobbies, religion, volunteering, miscing.

We didn't exist before, and we will return to not existing. How long we exist is a rounding error in the grand scheme of things, so I don't think worrying about how to spend it is that urgent.

No-not hard to cope with at all, everything is just a distraction & in many cases a self aggrandising, self-delusion from the inevitable-we are all pissant little beings on a tiny planet that will one day be decimated again & we will be gone long before that. Doesn't matter whether you sweep roads for minimum wage, or are a multi billionaire who launces rockets.

Maybe the sentiment would be more bareable if I had children since then at least a part of you is going to carry on. If I die childless, the government is going to benefit from all the work that I have toiled under the sun.

It is a fundamental aspect of many spiritual and philosophical ideas.

It is extremely empowering.

It is just one more reason to fear not.

We can’t lose this. We literally cannot lose this game.

The you're just dooming your children to toiling under the sun for the government. Just toil enough to survive and avoid the rat race where/when you can.

This is why it’s important to find purpose. Could be building a business or achieving some difficult goal such as traveling to all 50 states, but it’s essential to live for something.

Having children is the most obvious, easiest answer to the average 25-50 year old man’s existential crisis.

Excatly

Most people have no true passions in life and are just living on autopilot, copying a pathetic life they saw on TV, rather than truly living. It blows my mind how many people literally copy what they see on TV and have no actual ability to self-design their lives. Then wonder why they're depressed, fat, and on meds (Super Ded fkn Srs)

It might be pointless. Then again, it might not be.

With the way technology is going, if you can make it another few decades, we might have tech that lets you live forever with a healthy body and mind.

Even if you can't survive a decade or two, you're helping human kind evolve by contributing in some way, even if it's just with a job. If our generation doesn't solve aging, the next one probably will, it's really close.
