Just found out setting Albania on vpn gives you ad free YouTube

I've been paying for YouTube premium for a couple years but I just cancelled when I found out if you have a VPN that has Albania as an option (some other countries work too) that you get ad free videos on YouTube. I already have premium proton VPN that I buy one year subscriptions to for like 48 dollars per year and so far the trick has worked flawlessly. The only YouTube premium feature that doesn't work is playing videos when my phone screen is off. I know that using certain browsers with ad block on works too but the VPN trick lets you use the full app instead of a browser work around. RIP YouTube I'm not paying your constantly increasing premium prices any longer ya coonts

honestly i listen to music a lot on my phone or podcasts. i just pay for premium jewtube

its the only premium service i pay for. i use the wifes netflix and she gets disney+ with hulu through verizon for free. i'm at&t

Yes there are browser workarounds but if you have a VPN anyway it works great on phone and pc. I tried the proton PC app and can confirm it works without any workarounds as well just have to open YouTube.

Yeah I enjoyed premium but proton is only like 4 bucks a month in comparison and I already had it anyway so I feel dumb not realizing I was paying extra for no reason for this long. If you need to use YouTube with the screen off a lot though then maybe it's worth it for you, but I like using a VPN whenever I'm on the Internet already. Plus, paying for the VPN gives me extras like anonymous email and worry free pirating n chit

i understand if your already paying for it. i don't pay for a vpn tho. and i watch a ton of shit on youtube, i don't need to look at the screen for. so i can just turn off the screen. but yeah those little hikes in prices every now and than makes you side eye them

Video background play fix - I have used that for YEARS with no issues, that gives you ability to play video with screen off and just ublock or whatever, yeah works fine. Might not be as streamlined as the app but it works pretty good. I only need to request desktop site when I want to view my history, might be a way on mobile browser mode but I never find it.
Also to guys saying brave, it has let me down too many times e.g. youtube still plays ads. Mozilla + an ad blocker might be more bloaty but it has never let me down, ever.

This. ReVanced does it for Android, but you have to repatch it every so often whenever Youtube has critical updates.

They can't do anything to your account for using an adblocker. If you use ReVanced or something maybe, that's why I have an alt Youtube account for that for my phone, but if you're just watching in a browser with blocker you're fine.

I usually only have to patch every few months. Like 3-4 times a year max.

The day they remove the ability to side-load is the day I switch phones.
