Tech Nerds: Is a single router good for a 6k sqft house with a 1500sqft 2 story living space?
Keep in mind I got 5 wifi security cameras I need to install. Of course phones, laptops, tablets, TV's will be connected at all times as well.
Will a single high range router do the job? Or should I set up access points around the house?

No. Get a mesh system. Or even better, get a few access points. But those need to be hardwired.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Yes, if you mean a 6k sqft lot, that’s easily enough. My lot is a under half an acre (like 0.42 acres) and a set of 3 eero’s is by far enough for everywhere on the property

1500 square feet is nothing. However, you may need an extender for the upstairs. (SUper Ded fkn Srs)

Just wrap your walls in tin foil, it works trust me bro.
Also put a fan in front of your router so the signal travels further

My router was in my basement on my network rack so the range was terrible , especially because there are furnace ducts close to it etc . I said fug it and installed Access Points , one in my living room and one in my garage , so now I have perfect coverage , even on my deck .
It’s just too easy to run cat6 if you have access to your basement ceiling , but it helped that I had underground duct to get to my garage .
I am also running 5 cameras off a UniFi switch . All red cables are power over Ethernet on the rack .
The AC point in the living room mounted under a shelf . They also have wall mount AC points , but they’d probably be more directional

But if you have close.neighbors their signal fucks with your shit too so that also is what mesh helps with
I like asus' system i have one down stairs and one up stairs. You can do either wireless mesh or run a can cable between them and feet up more wireless channels

OP this is the company that I bought all my gear from . I don’t want to pay a subscription fee , so that was one of reasons I chose Ubiquity.

Also keep in mind that some crooks are now using wifi jammers that can shut down your cameras and leave you blind . That’s why I prefer everything hard wired . Unfortunately my alarm monitoring is wireless, as I got rid of my phone modem , so there’s that vulnerability.
