Psychology around helping parents out financially?

Precursor....they are in retirement...they don't require it but their not wealthy enough to not appreciate an oil barrel being filled or whatever. TYhey have never asked and they are oldschool and never will. But they helped me out when I was a retard in my 20's and early 30's multiple times....now I am in a position to give back and I want to.

I was thinking a grand here and there every few months. Thoughts on this?

If they havent been reckless with their own money throughout their life and youre able to help them without jeopardizing your own security, I dont see why this is even a question.

Mine don't need any help but I would help them if they needed it

I should clarify they don't need financial help

I help my mom with things all the time but she doesn't need any money her pension and social security cover all her expenses much less her investments

They brought you into this world and dedicated their life to raising you for 18 years. So unless your were abused, if you do have the money to help them out why wouldn't you do it?

parents are one of the only types of people that will usually care for you without requiring anything in return...women, friends, coworkers, etc all need something

I don't see anything wrong with it but it depends on the attitude of your parents. Some old people are really proud and don't want to accept financial help and will live in poverty before doing so. If this isn't an issue with your parents I'd say go for it.
