100k possible not verified
A powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake (followed by a 7.5) struck near Morón, Venezuela on June 24, 2026, about 100 miles west of Caracas, causing building collapses and shaking felt widely.
USGS issued preliminary models fearing up to 100,000 deaths in a worst-case scenario due to the shallow depth and urban impact, but this is not confirmed or “presumed” by officials.

Weather is getting pretty scary at times. We have tornado warnings up here regularly through the summer now, and it was unheard of to have anything like that twenty years ago.
