I guess I like the idea of being able to say I love my father, but if he wasn't related to me I wouldn't hesitate to say I can't stand that MF

love you dad (no homo)

My dad is a piece of garbage and I see parts of him in me and I just want to burn it away.

Nah, he did barely anything growing up besides beat up and cheat on my mother. Man completely over rates his involvement in our upbringing and acts as if one weekend every few weeks was influential.

Mum did all the hard work; raised my siblings and I alone, and we're all where we are today due to her care and support, both financially and emotionally. All of our morals, work ethic, etc. are from her.

Damn this is very wholesome. My dad was a beta who despite being a good mannered man, he lacked much ambition and often took his anger out on my family as he was very angry often and didn’t have the strength to actually provide. I learned nothing of value from him as an adult but he did push me to perform academically as a child which is only thing of merit

I edited my post but it’s true - all he did was come home and then get mad. Couldn’t show him having fun or he’s get mad

My dad was awesome. Didn't get to spend alot of time with him because he was more seclusively(I think most dads are if they had the choice) but he was mostly a chill and hardworking dude. I thought he was deadbeat but he was quietly working towards building a small asset to leave to his kids. He was a general contractor and did work here and there for residentials and did ok for himself all things considered. I fricken miss the guy and my biggest regret was that I didn't work hard enough to be able to care for him properly when he got ill. And when I think about it, I feel extremely lucky to have the dad that I did.

He's always done his job, been a good role model and supported his family, really can't fault him on that count.

My dad is awesome lol. Free of faults? No. He has always been there for me and it has been obvious he would put me and my siblings in front of his own needs

My dad didn't give any fucks about his family. And as a result, he died a lonely old man. At his gravesite the only thing my sister could say about him was a couple of things about what he enjoyed, but zero about him being a good father.

It was actually really sad, and just reinforced why I want to be nothing like him.

My dad is a genuinely good person and believes that if you work hard and do the right thing, everything will work out. That's a really stupid and naive mindset to teach your kids because that's not how the world works at all.

My father is a great guy, and an extremely hard worker.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Yes. He's a hero of mine. A flawed man, to be fair, but he stepped up to raise me as a single parent in difficult circumstances and I'll always respect him for it. In many ways, he sacrificed his own life to provide for me.
