In the book “Waking Up, A Guide to Spirituality Without Religion”, neuroscientist and philosopher Dr. Sam Harris said any person who does not try psychedelics is doing an extreme disservice to their existence. Of course he advised caution, specifically those with certain mental conditions like schizophrenia.

I would 100% agree with him. It isn’t just the amazing sensations and experience. It is has profound impact on the mechanical structure of your brain.

It opens up neuropathways and gives you the ability to perceive information differently. This is why everything seems so unfamiliar. You are seeing it without biases, you are seeing it without the filters and your brain comes out of energy saving mode. This is why they help with things like addiction.

You absolutely need to be able to feels feels. I recommend strong preparation. Mediate, eat right, have a clean place etc.

You may have a bad trip. That is a good thing.

You will find God there. Whatever you perceive God to be. You will prove yourself correct.

Would absolutely recommend/10

Yes. I did DMT many years ago. Started off with gagging and dry heaves. Then I went from being in pure bliss for about an hour and then I slipped into a nightmare for no reason. I remember trying to come up with any sort of solution to make myself feel better (I'll start being religious, I'll go back to school, etc...). At some point I realized there was no way to rationalize my way out of the situation. So I laid down and closed my eyes, I saw what was basically a large, mesh fabric that extends out to infinity in every direction. It's all colors of visible light. The fabric constantly undulates like waves and is never still. I saw things would take shape and branch off it and hover nearby but always return back to it at some point. If you look up Alex Grey paintings, like the colorful ones, it basically looks like that (100% sure he was using DMT to be inspired to paint that). When it was all over I just felt calm and good about everything.

Almost sounds like a kundalini experience, I had a spontaneous kundalini awakening years go, I would love to have the experience again, I might look up gurus in my area to pay for something like that to happen again.

I have done the trips (LSD) we used to get when I was a teen/early 20s. We also used to get a local mushroom (Psilocybe subaeruginosa) that we called "gold tops".

Its definitely a different experience but not for everyone. I never had small doses of the mushrooms (we used to boil them and drink the liquid) so I had at least one bad trip where I had way too much showing off. I think you can convince youself of anything, especially when you are tripping so I csn see where superstitious people might think they had a supernatural experience, I just saw all that kind of stuff as part of the trip. You gotta have a lot to have vivid hallucinations though, I only saw shit like that on my bad trip, I was totally fucked up for a long time and went missing/saw weird shit, thought I have crashed a car and killed people (I didnt even drive I just thought I did). Saw demons and thought my windpipe was ripped open, had severe injuries everywhere. And I was walking in heavy rain and all of a sudden the trip lifted pretty abruplty, I could think clearly enough to make my way back to where I started etc.

Other times on mushrooms I had a normal amount, saw other people freak out and have bad trips on that much but not the same, more like they wanted to be sober but once you're on the trip train there is no getting off it, you gotta ride it out.

Purple haze is a real thing srs, that and waves on the ceiling is mostly what happens when you trip ime.

Where did you do ayahuasca, in South america? The nausea sounds bad. I rather smoke it, with the time dilation I think it would still be more than enough time

Mescaline was really nice the body high was good

I didn't have super high dose they were capped power it takes a lot. I did "see" sound coming out the speakers when my eyes were closed coming at me while it felt orgasmic and the sound waves were like lightening bolts

LSD had the strongest open eye visuals but hear space is so clean on it pretty much still in "this" world. Saw these neon glowing worms coming out the ground and these neon green snakes.

Salvia was so hard to get enough I only had a break through once and it was the only one completely took me out of this world into like a different reality and there were cartoon characters that were your friends and always with you, when I game down I thought like guardian angels. It's weird I didn't "see" them in front of me but they were up behind above my should in the 4th dimension but I knew them to be there. There were like 4-5 of them Then. As I came back down I was very sad because I was back in this world/dimension where you are completely alone

I've smoked enough THC.

Just ordered a bunch of CBD and shroom gummies off the web.

I know plenty of people who think they're Jesus who don't take medication for their mental health problems.

Whats the point in being alive if I can't enjoy myself.

I was still an atheist for a long while after first experimenting with them

But it did help me become spiritual later on

I would watch videos of people who had NDEs and struggle to use this worlds words to describe things and I could relate to that from trips

I agree I think everyone emotionally stable should try it. I don't think any one experience was "life changing"

But looking back it did make me more open minded

I was in Miami at the time. It wasn't nausea so much it was like gagging for a few minutes and it passed pretty quickly. It did sketch me out but it was all good soon after.
