Nothing about capitalism necessitates people living in $100 million mansions and owning multiple supercars. This is the result of people who corrupted the system by gaining undue influence. The system is rigged, and at this point a few people and companies have such a huge advantage that even redrawing the rules wouldn't solve it because they would just find new ways around them or pay people off again.

Capitalism isn't inherently about "worshipping" money it's about private ownership of the means of production and a competitive free market. The people and companies that manipulate the system are doing their best to eliminate the free market and create monopolies. It's the same thing that happened in the gilded age.

If you think capitalism will always be corrupted that's fine, but at least present a viable alternative. As we've seen communism can be corrupted and controlled just as easily as capitalism, hell even easier. A one party state controlling a communist government that owns the means of production can do whatever it wants. Same goes for other governments and institutions throughout history. Monarchs were all insanely rich off the spoils of their empires. The Catholic church is corrupt AF with cardinals and bishops living in gilded houses while supposedly following the teachings of Jesus and taking a vow of poverty. Same thing goes for pastors of those protestant megachurches in the US.

If anyone has a viable alternative, I'm all ears. Until that point though I'm of the opinion that capitalism with strong regulations and guardrails against monopolies and market manipulation would be the ideal system. One of the biggest problems is businesses and superpacs being able to donate money to politicians. Campaign finance laws need an overhaul and in the very least there should be a cap on how much individuals can donate, and corporations and pacs shouldn't be able to give them money at all.
