What it's like at a predominantly-black school...

watching the news shows and apparently Washington DC spends the most out of all school systems per student but has some of the worst results. In fact, proficiency decreases as students get in later grades. math proficiency in 8th grade is 80% are below the standard required.

This is a great article from 2009. Every once in a while, something like the above, reminds me of it so I had to find it...the LOUD part is something that I can confirm. in white schools you can hear a mouse running through the halls, black schools not so much....

^^ not reading that shit. One of my friends got stabbed in school in NY. You never know what you'd get there. Got to a point where they brought metal detectors in. I just stayed out the way until family took an assignment to Germany. Went to Germany and someone brought a gun to school lol.

whites don't play. however that said, the white shooter thing is more of a meme. exponentially more black/black shootings in schools but tend to not go reported. the news simply does not cover some groups because it doesn't sell ads....aka no one cares.

I'll give you a concrete example, hispanic women are greatly more likely to be sexually assaulted/raped/family relations. however it is never reported at least in the US. In fact the Hot Latina stereotype is really a result of hispanic women being sexually assaulted very early in life. thus they ride that wave into their youth.

I grew up in the inner city but was spared from going to city schools because we committed fraud by using my grandparent’s address in the suburbs so I could attend a better public school. Got away with it all 12 years.

One of my best friends (White kid) had to attend city schools and he said there were fights every single day, he got jumped, other kids got stabbed, they had to walk through metal detectors every morning, gangs were rampant, it was chaos.

Predominately black schools are just next level awful. Even in mostly black suburbs like Wyandanch, NY, where it is still chitty but a lot tamer than inner city black neighborhoods, the schools are still complete zoos

Went to a school with 15% blacks and like 30% hispanics. I would say the majority of the blacks were a problem where as 1 out of 4 hispanics were too. It sorta sucked tbh, I would never do that my child.

coincidentally, YEARS ago I remember reading (prolly much worse more likely now due to variety of factors)...that IF a school is even 7-12% black it is considered a "bad school". Obvsly how that is defined is very flexible but the larger effect is students who do well are less likely to get into first choice colleges etc.

fun fact: ivys basically get all their students from like 17 secondary schools nationwide and let a few stragglers in to make them seem equitable.

There was a vast difference between how the class functioned between levels. My school had remedial - level 2 - level 1 and then honors. I was in level 2 english but level 1 math (got into honors in junior/senior year). Even the jump from 2 to 1 was drastic, it would go from half the class black to almost none. The amount of ghettoness in my level 2 class was astonishing, the teachers there were basically zoo keepers. My noticing started then.

Foot is doing okay. The pins came out and it was aching a bunch but its subsiding now. Everything is super tight and will need some serious PT to get moving again. Starting a new chapter now so its very much small turd big bowl kinda feelings. Yeah please mow in boots lol, you have no clue how close you can be to fucking your life up.
