Are people finally realizing how pointless and trivial life is?

After seeing sky high suicide rates, people going on killin sprees, abandoning social norms, dropping out of society becoming NEET in last 10 years, I think its safe to say that humans are slowly realizing how trivial and senseless that life truly is.

All throughout the history of humanity, mankind has used elaborate coping mechanisms such as rituals, fascism, norms religion, philosophy to try and deal with how pointless and utterly senseless that life is. The truth is humans are just another animal and have little control over circumstances and once dead, there is nothing else they can do. Look at how much people are abandoning traditional conservative views, 10 years ago gays were openly discriminated against, now their are 100k transexuals being 'reborn' every year. Society is fastly losing faith in all the copes and norms our ancestors put in place to help us cope with the sad reality that is life

The fact of the matter is that once you're born, you know you're going to die; what you do in between is of little or zero importance or significance in the grand scheme of things, you're better off just rotting instead of making yourself suffer. There is no reason or point in investing in politics, philosophy, religion, communion, ect so long as you get yours on earth and don't get attached when you're going to die a senseless death at the hands of fate. There is no reason to mourn the dead because their time, like all of ours is always approaching and is inevitable; like all of ours.

largely why i don't vote. actually in the process of switching citizenship. the materialism in this country and the stock placed in things that inevitably have nothing to do with thequalityof life just hurts my head. i'll be living in population 200,000 small town europe in the next few months. serious. looking forward to living a much more emotionally fulfilling "small town" life. i'm just burnt out on "what car do you drive?" questions and obnoxious ******** marriage proposal photo uploads. I'm grateful for the USA and it's opportunities, i'm just burnt out.

there are plenty of ways to change your life. Being alive is a fuking gift so people need to stfu and make it worth living...some how.

It is pointless. Reading up on existentialism and absurdism helped me cope with it somewhat. Combine those philosophical ideas with the practice of meditation and the "IDGF" attitude/stance toward everything will come naturally.

OP, while I agree that life is pointless in the grand scheme of things, I don't agree with your assertion that there's no point in investing in politics and communion, because they can have a drastic effect on your life and therefore your happiness. What if a politician who's running for office wanted to enact a policy to raise taxes to 50%? Wouldn't you think that you should try your best to use whatever means you could to prevent them from being elected? And what if you never engaged with fellow human beings on an intimate level? You'd be miserable.

People look too far, and try too hard to find a purpose or plan.

Your life is your own, do whatever you want with it. Something that is pointless to one person may be a lifelong passion for another. Life is about finding what makes you happy, and how you can help others find their own happiness. I wouldn't say the pursuit of happiness for any individual is trivial or pointless.

It's not because they know they will die. Death isn't that scary. It's because they know they will spend their entire short life slaving 10h a day for someone else, and that's what makes it pointless. And as our number is rapidly rising, we're only going to have to work harder and longer. Ain't nobody going to be happy with working all the time just to stay alive so we can work some more. Also, knowing you're somebody's (government's) bitch from the day you're born, isn't an easy pill to swallow. Unless you're born in a wealthy family, life is not really worth living.
