Set expectations. Communicate what you're about. When you're inviting a girl to go somewhere, I like to take them to a park and ask them to bring their favourite sandwich. Ask them to make 2. I'll bring 2 of mine, we swap one. Money doesn't come into it. But you're sending the message that you're equal to her, and she has to contribute.
It's not hard, unless you make it.

Granted Im older but I would never not pay on a date. Just my personal opinion but if I asked someone to go out with me its shouldnt be at there expense to do so. Just to add I would do the same if say I asked friends or family out for a dinner

The guy doesn't even make the best point when it comes to men paying for dates.
The man paying for everything idea comes from a time when the men would work and provide for the family financially and the women would stay home and raise the children/do all the cleaning/cooking etc. It makes perfect sense for the man to pay if the women has no income due to never having gone to school and had a career. The flip side is the man is never going to be doing his own laundry/cooking his own food/doing dishes etc.
This is not the world we live in today. There are more women than men in our universities and they are all getting their own jobs and have their own careers. If we're going to be operating on antiquated social norms with you expecting me to pay for your food and drinks on a regular basis then I expect you to do my laundry, cook for me, clean my place etc.
That simple.
Although I will offer to buy a drink at a bar the odd time or pay for the first date to just smooth things over but just LOL if she is taking it for granted and not offering to pay.

my usual game is to invite them to starbucks or a coffee shop where u got to pay first. go 5min early, pay and get ur coffee and when she arrives ask her to buy hers or act like ur already sitting and u dont want to get up so she has to pay for herself..or if u live along the coast, take her to a beach.. dinner on the 1st meetup is a big no no.

it's actually quite a hard decision for me.
On one hand the misogynist in me thinks a women should pay but then again I hold myself to high standards and feel poverty AF making a women pay.

His point about thinking their time is worth more (thus making the guy pay) is valid.
Though I think who ever asks who ever out should pay, if the other offers to go split when the check comes then you then have the option to say yes or no. If they don't offer, what ever you can either stop seeing them, or go out once more if you liked them. The 2nd date though should be dutch, and if they don't offer again, then just bail.

As long as females are considered the 'prize' then they will always have the power to dictate. (Thanks whiteknights)
And alot of the time a good partner does have a prize tag, its in their DNA to find someone to can provide security to her and her offspring. For biological purposes a rich man with charisma will 90% of the time be an attractive man, and if youre already refusing to pay for first dates you are instinctively giving her the subconcious thought that you are not that provider. Sure maybe FB material, but if you want a loyal gf you need to fork out dat doe.

the women want men to pay to prove they can provide, however the women wanted feminism and jobs and that in turn cut mens wages in half.

female logic:
guy asks girl out: guy pays
girl asks guy out: guy pays
if she won't even have a coffee with you, your a total beta **** if you take her to dinner instead. Free nice dinner for her!

Would always pay on first few dates - but it would not go past a few dates if they neve offered to pay.
I've never been with any girl who hasn't atleast offered to pay, including students with no income.
Been with current gf 5 years and live together. Will pay for her drinks if were out, her transport, I drive everywhere, and pay for like 70% of household bills. If we go out for meals sometimes I will pay for her (Maybe like 1 in 3 meals or so) depends. Excluding birthdays she has never once offered to pay for me. She will go 50/50 a lot, but never offered to pay for my meal and VERY rarely she will go up to the bar and buy me drinks.
But then I earn worst case (35x) , best case (46x) what her annual salary is - but she makes up for the lack of money in other ways, such as cooking all my meals, adding them all to MFP for me, housework, helping me out with things etc.. If anything im probably pretty tight with her and dont spend anywhere near as much as I should/could.

Honestly, when I "ask" a guy if he wants to split the bill on the first few dates... if he says yes... I'll gladly do it, but I won't be seeing him again. Sorry. But if you're not trying to impress me when we just started dating... I shudder to think how you will treat me down the line.
