Why are young people/college students mostly liberal?
Its not a secret that college campuses, the age bracket of 18-25, and many millennials are liberal as opposed more conservative or evenly split that older people are. What is the reason that young people lean towards the left on so many issues? I mostly see young people in favor of Bernie Sanders, or sometimes Hillary Clinton. The young people that I see irl and in videos that are for Donald Trump, they seem to be either people who are very interested in politics and do alot of homework, or they are just regurgitating what their parents say at the dinner table. But mostly I see young people leaning left.
What is the sociological reason for this misc?

Because the Millennial Generation has always had things given to them, and they think that's just the way it is/should be. They don't grasp that for there to be a source of "giving", another group of persons have to work to accrue value first.
It's a horribly disillusioned sect and I'm disgusted to be apart of their populace.

Young people are highly Impressionable and find a need to fit in. They tend to accept their surroundings and conform to other's beliefs. Everyone around them is already liberal, so it more expedient to be liberal.
When people are older and.left alone with their thoughts, they start to falter or adjust. Some become more.liberal, and some.become more right wing like me. I was pretty damn liberal at like 14-17, but I grew and became a progressive nationalist.

because entire internet MSM including all blogs they read are leftists...and most of these kids have no real life experience
even social media has been found recently to manipulate search results and content.

I fit the age description but not the views description. TBH I know a main reason a bunch of people liked Bernie was the thought of free college (for those not on that there full ride). Though it's not practical whatsoever people my age all think it's a great idea.

Because the majority of college majors (non-STEM) are essentially nothing but liberal indoctrination.
I had to take one last gen Ed class for my engineering degree, figured to take evolutionary psychology cause I find that really interesting. First day of class the professor hands out the syllabus and in bold letters at the top it says "gender is a social construct". Dropped that class right away.
Liberal professors indoctrinate kids with this bs, and they believe it till they have to actually enter the real world where taxes are paid and there are no safe spaces.

Education
Look at high school curriculum and you'll see why younger generations tend to be more open-minded/liberal. Look at the most popular HS English books: 1984, To Kill a Mockingbird, A Separate Peace, Fahrenheit 451, Brave New World, etc. It's all literature based around promoting free-thinking (although the book 1984 may contradict that slightly, lmao).
Take a look at U.S. History and World History classes and they tend to be anti-war, anti-slavery, etc. They are more tailored around encouraging world peace and unity rather than division. At least, that's how my history classes were. They took a close look at what led to all the major world conflicts (WW1, WW2, Vietnam War, Cold War, The Crusades, etc). Major theme was: History tends to repeat itself...so how to we (as a society), break the trend?
I should add though that my HS was pretty good at keeping any religious agendas out of the curriculum. I'd argue that the trend in more conservative states is quite different though.

It's complicated but it's a combination of things.
They come from privileged families and end up feeling guilty about it, which drives their new wave ultra progressive leftism.
The professors don't help.

Because they have no responsibilities yet, and they feel entitled to things due to being bestowed with entitlements by their parents. That's where the economic leftism comes from. The SJW marxism seems to be cultural and mainly affects girls since they are so easily influenced by social media which itself is cultural-marxist, plus feminism of course.

It wasn't until I got out and saw the world and made some decisions for myself that I realized that most of the policies that were "common sense", just don't really work in the real world. Everyone can get behind helping the poor, treating people equally, free education and social programs. It's when you learn as an adult that most of these programs just perpetuate already broken systems and funnel money from those that work to those who have no ambition and keep supporting the lack of ambition that you start to make some realizations.
Liberal polices would work great in a world where everyone got along and worked hard. That is not the world we live in, but it is the one that people with childish mindsets can believe in. The indoctrination is insanely strong as well, as many other have mentioned.

In college and shortly after you are too busy living on borrowed money (often) mixed with sleeping at your parents home during summer break, making money just to hit the bar and chase tail. The realization of valuing your own time to acquire that money has yet to set in.
When graduated, once the partying dies down you start to care exponentially more when you have to work to pay bills. Doubly so when you grind 40 or 50 hours at a job you hate with people who drive you nuts. And again more when you realize those student loans need repaid at some point.
Gradually as years go by you realize the whole "we will be millionaires when we graduate and invent twitter 2" dream dies and you wont likely get rich.
This compounds further when you want nice things eg home ownership. You value work and money more...moreso the effort to acquire. If I see something nice for $25 I ask myself if its worth equal or more value to me to hear the badgers at work squawk for an hour because I take home 25 per hour after tax.
When you see the public sector and unions living high off the hog, on your tax dollars and you realize you bust your ass to get ahead, conservative values set in even more.
That plus liberalism is very popular in academics, media and culture. You are a pariah at 22 if you out yourself as a conservative. There are some cool young conservative kids at some schools, but most of the time its 90% liberal minded.
Work ethic and conservatism are earned values IMO. Earned through grinding. And great parents who explain it from a young age.
Its easy to be liberal if you are born into money. Or if you never give up the entitlement mentality you may have developed.

I refuse to call myself liberal or conservative but if I had to say I leaned one way or the other I'd say I lean a bit more right.
What bothers me is if I say I agree with some liberal policies people automatically assume i'm some hippy with no life experience and if I say i'm conservative I'm some back wood redneck.
Most conservatives in Kentucky and most of the south are super religious which I'm not so that is why I can't really get behind them as much.
If the republican party removed God and War from their platform I'd be all for them honestly.

It's not just recently, it's pretty much always been like that.
Liberals usually end up being teachers and then usually push their liberal ideals on all of the dumbass students who can't think for themselves. (that's my assumption anyway)
I go to uni and disagree with well over 70% of what most peoples views are on political views from overhearing/speaking to people. Everyone is generally more beta at uni

colleges are well known to be left bias. the professors are mostly liberals and they have this 'boys club' mentality where anyone who isn't left is pretty quickly going to be shunned
I mean these universities are basically one big echo chamber. so when you have a conservative professor hired and he has opinions that differ from the norm he either voices them, is outnumbered and eventually is removed from staff because no-one else really likes him there, or he does what many conservatives do and just minds his own business for the sake of his job and keeps his political views low key
honestly it's a big problem. most kids are idiots and the mainstream media is already left bias, so you have kids growing up surrounded by left bias and it's not until they're much older that they realize that the left is mostly populated by immature brats with no life experience
conservatives need to start clawing back mainstream media and colleges. not sure how that will easily be done but as you've probably noticed, every year the left seems to be slowly gaining more control and the last few decent countries like America are going to turn into socialist failures like in Europe where liberals are basically running their countries into the ground

I think its more that the young liberals are more vocal and are more inclined to voicing their opinion on social media and other outlets. Think about it. Conservatives are just that, conservative.
They probably see all this social media BS and laugh it off. I dont side with any party (Im not into politics) but I would say I am more conservative in nature. When I was in college I chose to spend my time connecting with friends, concentrating on my studies and dabbling into business ventures. I was much more private in nature about my views on society.

groupthink + social conditioning + young people are often idealists before the real world hits them.
******** + huff post + friends + tv
there is almost NOTHING that leans towards the right, besides real world experience. ******** says free college for all and creating a welfare state is great, when you have a job and see how much taxes are taken out every two weeks, any rational person - especially someone with a family to support - is going to become conservative.
