Some of you may remember my original thread where I was SO close to buying a 2008 Porsche Boxster because I am an FA rotter autist with no friends or GF, but the majority of the Misc felt it was a tad old. I was in the dealership and very close to getting it, but I realised that insurance would be a bomb, parts and maintenance would cost a ton, and my parents who let me live in their house for free, wouldn't really be able to ride in it. So I went for the BMW 5-Series with fully kitted out cream leather seats, sat nav, cruise control, air-conditioning, heated seats and GOAT trunk space instead. If you are unaware of the original Boxster thread, i'll post it below in the spoiler:

Spoiler!Anyway, in the end I decided that my parents who raised me, fed me, looked after me, etc, were more important to look after and drive around than trying to impress a sloot or make fake friends. Including insurance and road tax, I dropped just over $20K which is my entire personal savings, but atleast my parents will have my back when they come back from holiday. However, if they turned up to the house and saw a $20,000 Boxster parked in the driveway and I didn't have any money to insure it, they would be a little annoyed.

I know you guys will say that I should have put the money into an ISA or Stock Portfolio or Pension Fund, or even a house deposit in a couple of years, but working my job and living at home, I will save around 15,000 a year after ALL costs, so I can easily re-build my cash savings, even if I am basically left with only $450 dollars right now.

Stats of BMW:

2012 5-Series, Stick-Shift transmission, 2.0 Litre Diesel engine, 59K on the clock but looks and feels pretty new, ~200 BHP, 0-100km/h in <7 seconds, extremely comfortable and the ride is the smoothest in any car i've ever driven, including the Boxster

59,000 on the clock. So basically the previous owner did 15K a year from 2012 since it's just under 4 years old.

Seems a lot newer than that, and Diesel BMWs if looked after properly can run 200 possibly, but definitely 150K+

If I got another 3 series after test driving the 5, every second I was sitting in it, I would be wishing I paid the extra amount. Pound for pounds the stats of the 5 series are much better and GOAT value for money.

I currently drive a 2011 3-series with 135K on the clock, so I can give that to my younger brother for free because I have this newer, sharper, faster, sweeter ride with cream leather seats!

How does one stop rotting? I've graduated from university and even then I went to a 90:10 ratio engineering school which was mostly full of international students who were in the library 24/7. I work a decent job but it's completely male dominated (and most people are much older with kids, etc), I am intelligent and do well in life/career, but I don't have many social skills. All my hobbies like running, hiking, playing golf, I do by myself with some headphones in.

I would like to make some new friends, but I don't really have the opportunity anymore. I don't have to worry too much about a partner, since eventually my parents will find me a wife, but I would like to choose my own. That just doesn't seem possible since I don't know how to talk to women, what social norms are, almost every sentence I use IRL contains Misc lingo. I'm not even unattractive or anything, just literally a rotter who barely leaves the house.

I've learned to be happy in my own company, and I will make the most of this car taking it on Welsh mountain roads and going for day and weekend hikes, but sometimes I do think it would be nice to sit at the top with somebody and talk about life

While the second statement is true, what exactly is wrong with a Boxster? I think for a reasonably-priced 2-seater sports car, it actually would be an exceptionally enjoyable purchase

so youre not a typical rotter. youre going out, have hobbies, got job, money etc. not having friends or communication skills is bummer but you can live without it. only one thing i guess you need.. to have sex more often. thats how lad in mid 20s should live.. i think its too late to get real friends but you can always find someone on the golf course to play with and hang out after. but whats the point tbh..

If I save less money ($1000/month instead of $1800/month) but live a little more, I can easily afford to drop 500 a month on 4 HBBs from ethnicities all over the world @ once a week rate

Perhaps you should have spent your money on moving out. Then you might be able to progress towards no longer being FA. Then you might actually be happy. Instead you chose to fill your factory of sadness with meaningless material possessions. In this case a used and unremarkable BMW.
