any doctors/optamologists/opthamologists on?

so I had a corneal abrasion that didn't get to heal properly because allergies kept effecting my eyes at my job, i ended up getting a ptosis in that eye.. quit the job, thought i was gonna need surgery, after a couple months i got the idea to put eye ointment on it in the night and morning and eye drops any time it felt slightly dry.. it's been about 2 weeks, the ptosis is gone but I don't wanna stop the regime for fear of it coming back.. do i need to do this indefinitely or is there a period where it may be safe to stop?
