I was ignorant to the experiences of poor people. I’d invite anyone to come and meet the people who live in this neighborhood. Right now we are surrounded by working poor people. These are the people who sell your tools at Sears, and fix your roofs, and take care of your parents, and mow your lawns, and serve your meals. They’re not getting a living wage. When you’re down here, the system will continue to kick dirt in your face. You can’t pull yourself up when there’s nothing to grab onto. We aren’t paying our brothers and sisters enough to live. We want them to serve us, but we aren’t serving them.”
Why can't these people pursue the training and education needed to get a better job? Like a trade or STEM type career for example, that tends to pay enought that you are at least not in a cycle of poverty.

Many of them are more concerned buying the latest clothes, shoes, or drugs to save for school.

Even if you're broke, most people take out loans for this stuff anyway. Is that not an option for these people?

Even if everyone gets a college degree, better higher paying jobs don't just suddenly appear out of thin air so you will always find a segment of society that's not quite making it.

there are in demand, well paying careers out there. Some dont require college, but other forms of training. These are there right now, not out of thin air

Ok, so it's hard basically? No s*it, it's hard. But people have been working and going to school at the same time for awhile now. It can be done, it's hard but that doesn't mean it's not possible out there. If they don't have the will to do that, well ok but that doesn't mean there aren't opportunities

When you reach a certain age you're too old. Good luck entering a more professional career when you're 30-35+ (probably depending on how old you look too). Employers dont want old people.

Supply and demand. Jobs are usually high-paying because there's a limited number of people working them, and vica versa.

And there's lot of people are fighting each other to get those last couple jobs that pay a decent wage. They're jumping through hoops like fukkin crazy to get in on careers that decline in value by the year. And people that fell behind earlier seldom have a chance to jump ahead, as cost of living in this country just keeps increasing and they've just got to run on the treadmill to stay where they are at.

What it comes down to IMO, is that there is just fewer needed jobs than working people in America right now.

- No money

- No education

- No connections

- No drive

Some of them sure but most of these roles simply require specialization and training that most people are too lazy to complete. And that causes a shortage.

BTW I am among these lazy unmotivated people, but I also don't complain that society did me wrong. I know I could do better if I went for it.

you missed my point. let's say some people do get the necessary qualifications and fill those jobs, your selective observation will still show you plenty of people who couldn't. that will not change because resources/income/jobs are finite.

Not everyone has daddys money to pay for college education and don't give me that get a part time job bull****. If you think you can handle 20 hours per week at McDonald's and get a degree in STEM(EX:Computer Science) at a good university then you got another thing coming. STEM at a top university is at least 40 hours per week with about 16 units.

Some of us have dug ourselves into a whole that is hard to get out of and we just work and pay bills, don't have the money or time to go back to school. I also have a issue with finding something I want to do, all the money is in the STEM field and I have absolutely no interesting in any of that stuff.
