McGregor Gets Boxing License For Possible Mayweather Fight

McGregor Gets Boxing License For Possible Mayweather Fight

Conor McGregor has taken the next step towards making a potential fight with Floyd Mayweather a reality. The UFC lightweight champion has been issued a boxing license in the state of California.

For months, McGregor and Mayweather have been publicly toying with the idea of going toe-to-toe in the boxing ring. While such a fight has appeared unrealistic because McGregor would have virtually no chance to win, it is at least possible now that the bout could happen in California.

He got a license today and a federal ID, California State Athletic Commission executive officer Andy Foster told MMAFighting.com. He's a California boxer now.

Of course Mayweathers camp is denying this has anything to do with a possible fight

He probably did it without any sort of negotiation and also considering the fact Mayweather never fights outside of Vegas since 2007, so it means nothing until further actions are made.

How retarded do you have to be to think Floyd would fight in Cali because Conor is too retarded to get a license in Nevada?

Right...maybe instead of fighting JMM 500 times he should have taken the 40 million flat fee. Which is what he walked away with after Bob Arum went in balls deep.

Win or lose they'll both come out with hundreds of millions dollars richer from the match.

They'd both win.

That's one reason, the other reason is that since Nevada is a gambling state they're not allowed to put on mismatches of this degree. The NSAC isn't going to grant a boxing License for a man with 3 Amateur fights, and zero pro boxing matches so he can fight arguably the best boxer of our generation.

Why would you even want to watch that match? I have more of a chance against Floyd in a boxing ring than Connor does.

Conor had a better chance getting licensed in the UK if possible. Floyd always said he'd fight in the UK outside of Vegas.

I think the PPV sales and attendance alone would pay for the payouts, why can't they just let Floyd beat the chit out of him for all of us to watch?

I wonder how many rounds the fight would be interesting for. My guess is about 3, which is still more than the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight.

Can anyone imagine the madness if Conor first round KO'd Floyd? I mean, I don't think it would happen but if Conor was somehow able to win that fight it would probably be a first or second round fluke KO... and Conor love would be propelled into the stratosphere. Floyd's legacy would take a huge hit too.

That could work too...BBBC would probably license him on the strength of revenue. Hold that chit at Wembley or Croke Park with 70-80k people. Man!

It would bar none be the biggest buy rate in history, but Nevada has to keep things balanced for the casinos and gambling houses. It's mandated that Vegas get's the most competitive fights. I believe the only "mega" fight that took place outside of vegas in the last 20 years to be outside of Vegas was Lewis V. Tyson. I could be mistaken though.
