No diagnosis but I'm petrified of the possibility.

For the past 6 years or so I've been chitting blood on and off. It stopped for about 6 months until the other day, which is idiotically the first time I've ever taken it seriously. I even made a thread in 2014 after I diarrhea'd blood and made a joke out of it. Colon cancer has always been in the back of my mind, but I made excuses and said it was an anal fissure from straining or hemorrhoids.

Realistically, it's a very good possibility. Colon cancer is slow moving and can grow inside people for decades without showing symptoms. I could be in stage IV by now.

Lately I've read horror stories of 20something year old healthy people being diagnosed with colon cancer after experiencing the same symptoms I am.

I chit blood.

I have stomach pain when I feel bloated.

My chit has been loose more often than explainable.

I've lost weight (but I did stop working out)

I feel weak and light headed daily.

I've been getting minor headaches and one migraine over the past month.

I feel dumber and have trouble concentrating when reading, for example.

All of these are symptoms of, among dozens of other things, cancer. I haven't seen any doctors yet because I have no insurance, but I feel like I have an inner intuition that it's true.

Even though colon cancer is an old people's disease and doesn't run in my family, the symptoms are too real to ignore any longer.

I'm afraid.

I'm afraid to go to a doctor because I can't afford medical bills with no insurance. Im afraid of being dismissed for being a hypochondriac because I'm young. I'm afraid of having a selfie stick shoved up my ass by an old man aka a colonoscopy. I'm afraid of painkillers that will sedate me. I'm afraid to hear the diagnosis. I'm afraid of surgery. I'm afraid of chemo that is basically just poisoning yourself hoping the tumor will die before you. I'm afraid of leaving my loved ones.

I'm afraid to die.

OP if it is bright red blood, you are OK. If it is dark red, you might have colon cancer. Go see a doctor. Don't be afraid. It sucks not having insurance, and IDK if you are in the US or not, but here, you can get obamacare. If you aren't, then see what options you have. There are usually free clinics out there too. A colonoscopy is nothing to be afraid of. Don't worry. It is perfectly safe. Don't be afraid of diagnosis. All of the discomfort you will feel from treatment pales in comparison to the horror of cancer. You gotta go get checked out asap. It is better than dying. You will regret it forever if you don't try. Chemo is dangerous, yes, but the alternative is death. That's why they use chemo on cancer patients. They won't give you chemo unless you really have cancer. You need to try to find out what is going on before it is too late.

Stay off of the internet, it's full of horror stories. There are also people who die of heart attacks by 20.Colon cancer is SO RARE they don't even begin checking for it until past age 40.


These are all quite possibly symptoms of anxiety, especially once you begin being hyper aware about your own body (minus the blood).

Red blood is likely to be a hemorrhoid or fissure, nearly black blood is more serious. Also check your diet. I was scared chitless once when I ate a whole bag of flaming hot cheetoes and my chit was red the next day.


My honest opinion would be to get it looked at. Just by being in your 20s the odds are in your favor.


I went through a period where I thought I was developing ALS or something because I would randomly get a shock down my spine and random muscles would flex and I would kind of 'jump'. After a bit of worrying I discovered that forward head posture when using a computer was likely the cause. It went away as I became more conscious about my positioning. But man is that a weird as **** thing to experience. One of my doctors told me to remember "common things are common". Hemorrhoids and fissures are more common in your case, so don't jump to the least common thing right away.

I still think you need to go see a doctor just to make sure. See if there are any free clinics or reduced cost options or ways for you to obtain insurance. You can do it OP. You are probably gonna be ok if you are proactive about this. Just try to find out what, if anything, is wrong. Don't be afraid of the truth. Don't ever be afraid of the truth. It is always better to know in the end no matter what discomfort it may bring you. And don't worry if they think you're a hypochondriac. Don't try to diagnose yourself. Just tell them the truth about your situation, and see what conclusion they come to.

OP, go to the Dr. Probably not colon cancer, because if you were chitting blood for the past 6 years due to cancer and it was being untreated, you'd probably be dead by now.

So my GF has been having problems similar to you OP. Her boss is a doctor, and her husband is a surgeon and they told her it is likely NOT cancer, but named some things it could be, but seriously doubt it could be cancer.

I would think so. I did read about a guy who was diagnosed at like 42 with colon cancer. His doctors suspected it began growing inside him when he was 16.

What did they think it could be?

There are dozens of things it could be OP, cancer seems unlikely.

I honestly would doubt that to an extent. He may have had pre cancerous polyps at 16 but I don't think you'd live well with untreated cancer for 26 years.

Ask for a colonoscopy. Even people who are in their 50's get colonoscopies done every year or 2 just for safe measure. Work hard, save your money, but get treated right away. If you actually do have cancer you DONT HAVE TO do chemotherapy, there are more options. Stay positive man.

If it has been going on for 6 years, you are still in your 20's, and colon cancer or young adulthood cancer doesn't run in your family, it is extremely unlikely that you have it brah. Srs.

But you should go to the doctor for bloody stool, regardless. You could have other gastrointestinal issues that---while not life-threatening---need proper treatmant.

99% sure it is nothing OP, I can attest to this as a fellow hypochondriac. I have lost count of the times I thought I had cancer because of some minor ailment.

calm down bro. there's been twice where I've thought 100% i had skin cancer. it gave me so much anxiety and I'd google stuff about it for hours becoming increasingly more worried and convinced of my fate. I went to the dermatologist and it was nothing serious.
