A self-loathing man who hates their ethnicity and even their racial group is not a badge you wear in pride. Wanting to assimilate and befriend another group that is external to yours, you will always be viewed as unequal to them. If you are treacherous to your own kind, you can be to theirs. You are what we call a snitch or rat. So ironically trying to befriend another group where there are individuals within theirs that do not see you as equal is a waste of your efforts. I propose if you're going to immigrate to another nation, you do it to subvert their culture to make it accommodate to your own nation. Instead of assimilating you in affect invade their people and protect your own.

Nationalism is about loving your own and putting your own first. The nation is an extended version of your tribe and it is an extended version of your family. This means you put your family first. It doesn't mean you hate others, but you do what it takes to uplift your kind or else face threats from others who seek to undermine you. Just as you put your own family first, you put your own nation first. If the people have no nationalism, then that means there is no country worth fighting for. It means the country will die a slow and painful death because the nation has a people of self-loathing groups. That is why when there are different cultures and groups of people with different viewpoints, it shatters the cohesive culture of a nation. Do not be ashamed and be bullied into submission by others for saying that having nationalistic pride is bad, because it is natural to want to protect your own children and family before others. This does not mean you hate anyone, it just means you have a healthy and competitive mindset for your team to be on top. It does not mean that you shouldn't help others, but it should not be at the detriment of your families and communities health.

So you can argue the case that you can be a mentally insane person if you're not a nationalist. Since you're trying to befriend or in some cases invite people who seek to harm you. If you're not loyal to your own, then you're most likely not a good person to begin with. So nationalism is about love for your own. It doesn't mean hate.

Nationalism is a cancer holding humanity back - your group is not your nation, your group is who you want it to be, your nation is just an area arbitrarily decided by people who seek to exert power over you. A nation is in no way an extended version of your tribe.

I disagree, I see it as a healthy form of competition. My main issue with the pretentious individualist, is that they tend to be a treacherous kind of person. Not all of them, but there is a consistent trend that they're more prone to self-hate then those who have pride in their self and family.
