The Nintendo Switch Is A Technological Work Of Art
The Nintendo Switch is a sexy beast.
These are words I never thought I'd use to describe a Nintendo product, let alone a video game gadget, but here we are. Gone are the days of the clunky Wii U and its haphazard, half-baked design.
In fact, Nintendo's upcoming video game console is so impeccably crafted, it gives both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One S a run for their money. This is a gadget with sex appeal, and the first video game console to achieve what Apple achieved with the iPad. Making tech sexy is no small feat, and it's this achievement alone which has the potential to do what the Wii U couldn't: Appeal to a broad consumer base that goes beyond traditional gamers and Nintendo fans.
Nintendo has taken all of its gaming chops and coupled them with a design straight out of the Apple playbook. The combination is something truly magical. The Switch may not have much on it just yet—I've only used it to play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild so far—but the hardware itself is beautiful to look at, to hold, to listen to. It's a work of techno-art, and I'm more excited by it than I was by any of the VR headsets that landed in 2016…. (click link to read more)

Have mine preordered. I really hope they start announcing more titles and more third party support though. Doesn't matter how slick it is, it will bomb if there aren't enough games released for it.

Hoping to get in on it after they are restocked. Out of all the games thus far aside from Zelda, I am most definitely looking forward to ARMS, I had alot of fun during Wii Sports playing with my father. And he was also surprised by how fun and easy it looked to play.

Just one more week until we get to Switch Switch things up!
Haven't owned a Nintendo home console since the SNES and a Nintendo handheld since the Game Boy Advance.

Just go to the layaway desk and tell them you want to preorder.
There will be no market for scalpers on this system which is a good thing

I tell myself I don't want this. I tell myself the hardware sucks. I tell myself there's no third party support… and yet, if I see this in the wild, the child in me will want to buy it just so I can have it. But, I made a promise to myself not to get this because the adult in me knows this just can't succeed.
I'm excited for all you guys that are excited. I just hope you guys don't regret it. I, personally, think it's a good thing to have awesome gaming consoles out there. I'm just pissed that Nintendo abandoned the Wii U so soon, and for what? A system that's pretty much the same strength as a Wii U. It's a bitter taste in my mouth that seems more about money making than caring about the consumer.

for all the people bashing nintendo for rushing this release, lets look a their options:
1. Release BOTW now for wii u and launch the switch in the fall:
Bad strategy, it forces non wii u owners that want zelda to either buy a dead console that isnt being made anymore, or wait months and months to play it. Most likely scenario, is that nintendo loses a ton of potential switch sales from people that want to play zelda but didnt already have a wii u. waste of an opportunity to get people to adopt the new system.
2. Delay BOTW until the fall when the switch was fully ready
This would suck for their fans that bought a wii u and are pissed off that its already dead. Zelda is the game they were promised, its ready, so would suck for an artifical, unnecessary delay just to launch alongside the switch version. Plus, Nintendo could use the cash ASAP to please investors
3. Do what they did - rush the switch barebones to launch with zelda
Optimal outcome. People with wii u's will pass, but most would have done that regardless until the switch really builds up its library. But they get a ton of people to early adopt the switch just to play zelda while they get ready for the holiday big push with all the features in place and some more games about to release

some details here, no story spoilers they just talk about what you've already seen in the demo, but explain a bit further on game play.
the video being played is just from nintendo's demo of zelda that was being played earlier this year. so don't worry.

I'm gonna run to Toys R us in the morning on friday to pick mine up I feel like its a forgotten toy store. Thats the best bet, since I feel like everyone will be running to Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Gamestop. Also thinking about taking next Friday off lol.

This game magazine gave Zelda a 10, but some of the details russle me. Only 4 main/big dungeons and main story only lasts 20 hours. I'd rather a shorter story that is all good no filler than the opposite, but I hate the trend of open world games skimping on the meat and bones in favor of random side ****.

I am picking it up for Zelda and Mario upon its release. Better games for kids typically as well.

5 more days, cant wait for Zelda all I'm hearing is its the game of this generation. Reviewers who have played both this and Horizon have been saying Zelda is better.

I might buy it down the line if they can fix some of this but god damn they really **** the bed on a few massively important issues

Some of the other points you listed are valid tho there is overpricing on some accessories but the browser, netflix, youtube thing isn't a big deal and will eventually be there and same with virtual console. Oh no!! I wanted to play 20 year old games on launch day instead of Zelda…..lolzzz

basically everyone's journey is going to be different, you can start off the plateau in any direction, and from there you are in a huge world, with no help.
nintendo is encouraging you to explore the world instead of rushing to beat it, you will find more story and cutscenes that way, especially with zelda.
its got its first 10/10 from edge magazine
