RIP Nicki Minaj

Meek is probably wishing they had stayed together a little longer so he could cash in that life insurance.

I dont think that cut very deep. It was too jumbled, lacked flavor. Just try hard.

Minaj could turn that chic out if wants to. She may not waste her time with it.

I'm really liking the old school approach of getting personal and airing out all of their dirty laundry with no fukks given, but the track choice is stupid. She can't flow on this beat properly especially since Nas put a nail in it's coffin. It takes away from the lyrical content, which also could be better.

With that said, I still like it because it brings me back to the 90's/early 00's when rappers would say the other rapper's names they were beefing with and actually talk chit about them instead of being passive aggressive and taking small shots here and there that could be misinterpreted by anyone.

Diss was savage and props to her for being direct, but it was definitely not lyrical enough.

Not a very good diss track. Average/10. Beat selection was pretty bad. Ether was a beat that was extremely niche and should have never been used again.

This is where I'm at. If you bring back Ether, you have to bring it harder than Nas. How many people can bring it harder than Nas? Its an all or nothing proposition once you go Ether. You either brought the heat, or you didn't. She didn't.

I'm not an LL Cool J fan, but my wife is. I still have to give him respect for Jack the Ripper. He dropped Jack the Ripper...and ended someone else's career. Then years later, he dropped Jack the Ripper 2. I heard it in the late 90's because it was literally buried as a hidden track in the back of my DMX CD. I was a Canibus fan...but his career was over after that.

And for those who don't want to look them up, the original Ether, which she falls short of...and The Takeover by Jay-Z. As Bill Belichick says, the standard is the standard.

They must be impressed that its a diss track to begin with. AND, they must not know the original track. I think she bit off more than she could chew this time. Some people are just #nextlevel. Minaj is just #nextlevel from this track.

Style matters. If you are just trying to get out information, frickin put out a press release. LOL

I think she bit off more than she could chew on this one. She not only attacked a target above her pay grade (IMO), but did it on an infamous track that is also above her paygrade. There aren't any parallels to it. But throwing out a random example, she tried one of the most difficult moves in figure skating...while wearing the outfit and performing to the song of one of the greatest figure skaters of all time...in a classic routine that most of the judges remember the original performance. Once you decide to do that...you better bring it. She didn't...regardless of the content of her message.

Maybe I'm wrong. Rap these days is Rap Lite compared to what I grew up on, so maybe 16 year olds today will be like "OMG, that was amazing!"

I think a lot of people seriously underestimate Nicki Minaj's rap skills because she's mostly known for her pop hits.

Example:

She absolutely bodied that song and outshone both Kanye and Jay-Z easily

Okay, so this is terribly unfair because it has Eminem. He doesn't get his due from some, and I get it, but its amazing how many rappers fall short when they are put on the same track as him. Jay-Z famously fell short in Renegade. But here's an example of going on an infamous beat for a diss track. You have to come correct just to do the beat justice.

I definitely wanted to post that, but I feared it would take too long to get to Nicki. She is #nextlevel. Some random sloot is not going to come along and take her crown.
