Because the adult life sucks unless you are smart/lucky/hungry enough to make lots of money. Without that constant sense of advancement, people cope and rely on other people/limited free time to make them fulfilled and it rarely works out that way. Maybe I'm reaching, but that's my theory.

True. In high school and college you pretty much skate. Best years of your lives. Everyone thinks they are going to be some big deal. Most people end up with boring and/or ****ty office jobs and the tour is over. Time to rot. Unless you become successful. But even then. Most mid-level and up manager jobs at Fortune 500 companies are stressful as fuk. Yea you make a little more but 10x more pressure and responsibility compared to a cubicle drone.

Brother you're almost 30. It's time to accept life is not all peaches and sunshine. Life is full of sadness and defeat, but also full of joy and growth. Do you call the trees bipolar or sad just because they seem gloomy come winter time?

This is the way the world works. I get it, you probably grew up in the 90's in a suburb and thought the gravy train will never stop. But we're grown up now buddy. You must associate/be around some angry, bitter people. I know several 35-60 year old guys that are happy and young looking. They are all single, exercise regularly (lots of cardio), have some form of religious belief (not organized) and in business (accounting, finance, etc) That seems more and more to be the key to being happy and successful in modern America.

Because they have full time jobs that drain them of any time, energy, and life they used to have.

They can cope by going out drinking at night, spending too much money on material possessions, settling down with a 5/10 so at least they have something to come home to, having kids, etc etc but coping doesn't change the fact that being a wage slave sucks ass.

But it's possible to get out...
