In the comics, Valkyrie is a blonde Norse goddess, but director Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows) said he had more in mind than just adding diversity to the franchise when casting Thompson. “I’m not obsessed with the idea that you have to cast someone just to tick a box,” he says. “You should cast people because they’re talented. [With Valkyrie] I wanted to make sure we weren’t making a female character that was boring and pretty. What I wanted was someone who was going to play the opposite and be even more of the ‘guy’ character than the guys. Ultimately I thought Tessa was the best person we found.”

This was the worst actor in TV series Westworld and brought the whole show down a few levels every scene she was in.

I'm sure a large demographic of people who are into comics, video games and that kind of stuff are low key SJWs so not surprising. There was even talk of turning Link into a female (thank god that didn't happen).

I'm not a fan of changing characters race and gender to be progressive. One of the reasons I was immediately turned off to Suicide Squad.

This isn't the first time they have black washed Nordic mythology with Thor movies. Heimdall has been played by Idris Elba. Tessa Thompson was saying how Elba is lonely as the only brown person on screen in the Thor movies. Okay.jpg

Don't defend that casting decision. Those guys are mainly known for 300 (10 year old movie) and GoT (as a supporting character),you're telling me they couldn't find an African actor because they had to have those "big names"? What were they saving them Norse mythology?

No. I would want them to be historically accurate with the Egyptian characters. Just like many years ago with Lawerence of Arabia in the 1960s, there were white actors that played as Arab characters under a bunch of makeup. I'm sure they could have found decent actors for the characters that were of Arab background. The difference though, is that it is much more accepted to change white characters. Of course, part of it is also the international marketing to have some non-white characters to appeal to wider demographics, but while that is understandable in practical terms for money, characters like Valkyrie and Heimdall are changed too much for this. So, it is not just the SJWs, but they are also a part of it.

Hollywood/media has been accused of whitewashing characters for ages, long before white people started pretending they're victimized by SJWs and diversity. Especially when it comes to roles meant for Asians

Of course the difference is, when someone complains about Hollywood whitewashing you start crying about reverse racism and being oppressed by SJW's again

I'm all for characters being cast given the race they are in the comics ... But let's take a step back here, sometimes the choices directors make is absolutely the right choice and it pays off.

Samuel L Jackson or a black Nick Fury was absolute genius in casting and even the comics have made Fury black to reflect it because I think it fits the role better.


Aquaman in the comics is a blonde, blue eyed caucasian and I love Aquaman in the comics, but having a Samoan and Carl Drogo play him again was the best choice they could have ever made because it makes more sense for the king of the seas to be an Islander.



Some of you *******s just go out of your way to be outraged by everything like the SJW's ... retards on both sides.

Do you approve or disapprove of white characters in Nordic mythology being played by non-whites? Or will you deflect to us "crying" about SJWs?

I think the people who make these movies can do whatever they want with them, my problem is with who 1) care about something so stupid 2) Don't care when it's the other way around

Don't care. It's a C list character in the comics.

I do think it's funny that they said "I wanted to make sure we weren’t making a female character that was boring and pretty." And that is exactly how i felt of her when i saw her in the trailer.

I can tell she is going to be the most boring character in the movie.
