I'm sure it's not standardized across all departments, but how long are your shifts? You guys have beds and stuff right so I imagine long.

It does require a lvl of fitness tho. It isnt easy wearing an SCBA. Being in shape is a big plus because it can be a physical job.
Not too many house fires to be honest. Lots of wrecks and medical calls. No idea how many calls we average a month. We can get 10 or 20 in a single shift.
Ive had a few close calls. Being trapped in a basement with fire above me and all around me was pretty ****ing scarey. Basement fires are the worst. Also had a close call with a backdraft. Had a few close calls when sounding the roof of a few structure fires. Nearly fell thru a few roofs...

ALS
Had a few close calls when sounding the roof nearly fell thru. Nearly fell off a roof too. Had a close call with a backdraft. Scariest one was being trapped in a basement with fire all around me on a primary search.
I like it when you talk dirty. And you know it haha.
Sorry for the delay guys. Had a few things come up. Keep em coming.

How long did you test before getting on full time? For those thinking of becoming full time firefighters in this thread, know what you're getting yourself into. It is one of the most competitive careers to get into, traveling/testing gets expensive and drains you.
"So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. . . . Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place." -Tecumseh

Are the females firefighters as worthless as we think they are?
"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda
