mike tyson is a AAA level BBC athlete and the only AAA level athlete that has existed outside of the NFL (NBA athletes cap out at double A level).

Tyson by anything he wants.

Aj has about 6-7 inches of height on him, i know mike is used to thaf but he never fought anyone of the class of AJ until he was out his prime.

Could go either way but i'd back AJ

Tyson without any doubt, AJ almost lost that fight yesterday - 7th 8th and 9th rounds he was barely moving.
Although that was by far the best hw fight in ages still doesn't come close to Mike.
I do agree he will improve with time though but he just doesn't seem to have that animal aggression. I may be wrong

Lets not get this twisted, Tyson is no Jordan, Federer or Gretzky of the heavyweight division. He lost what, half of his fights to every hall of famer on his resume. A prime Mike Tyson got knocked out by Buster Douglas and you're going to hold AJ getting put down by one of the greats in the sport, a fight that he held on and then came back to win. This was a huge step up for him.

He has a lot to improve on. The right combination of size and fitness so he doesn't gas himself out mid fight. Controlling the fight better, using his jab and reach more effectively. Too many wild punches being thrown. His defence is still a bit suspect.

AJ only started boxing at 18 and Tyson was champion by 20. Joshua is nowhere near the finished article.

AJ struggled against a 40 year old klitschko.I think tyson was overrated compared to some past heavyweights, ali, foreman, those two without question but even I think he would beat AJ. AJ doesn't have the conditioning and is too musclebound. Reminds me of frank bruno fighting tyson.

To prove how pointless this comparison is right now - there's a stat that Joshua fought 20% of his professional career in terms of rounds fought last night.

The Wlad of last night would beat a majority of current heavyweights and was the best he has looked in a while.

Joshua is 27, this is his prime, if he reaches his prime at 31 then thats not exactly a good thing. and hes gone life and death versus a 41 year old wlad. you know why hopkins is considered a god? its because he beat young lions 20 years past his prime. its not a super duper notch on AJs belt that he beat a wlad 15 years past his prime, he was supposed to win this within a few rounds, not get gassed, knocked down, come close to losing, and then then win via because of wlad being gassed.

where tyson may have lost against the glorious buster douglas, that was the definition of an off night.

styles make fights and he will train different aspects of boxing against different fighters. he came in heavy for this fight looking for a ko expecting wlad to move around terribly well being 41. if he fights wilder or fury, he will work on his jab and movement and we will see if he pull it off, if manages that, then of course the comparison between tyson AJ will be more credible, but right now, to even consider AJ beats a prime tyson based on the buster douglas fight is lol worthy.

will be interesting to see his next move, he migh jus go for a rematch with wlad in 18 months so we might not see jack chit or any kind of progression of AJs skills.

well that in itself says a lot.... expectations must be low for AJ if beating a 41 year old wlad whp was confirmed shot 18 months prior to the fight is considered something other than a foregone conclusion and the fact that it wasnt, is a cause for concern as an AJ supporter.

Athletic prime maybe but this is not his boxing prime and therefore not him in his prime clearly. 20% of his professional career was fought last night in rounds terms, that's crazy.

fair enough. but did people really think this fight would be made against the biggest UK HW star since fury in wembley is AJ was not expected to win?
do you concede that at one point in the fight it looked like he was going to lose?

Bruno was a musclebound knockout artist as well.
Definitely in the same mould but he is better than Bruno ever was. It's odd because moving forward he is quick and accurate, for his size anyway, but he is so easy to hit when toe to toe. Vlad must have landed the same right twenty times, he has zero head movement and is going to spend much of his career on his backside if he doesn't get with a new trainer.

How was he shot? Because he lost his first fight in over 10 years? Apparently Tyson is the only one who's allowed to have an off night.

Sure he's 41, but a 41 year old Wlad is still a world class boxer who only a handful of guys right now would have a chance at beating. And is still a better boxer than anyone Mike Tyson has beaten.

Joshua doesn't have half the IQ to fuk with Tyson and he has a vulnerable chin, not a glass chin, but he has showed multiple times he can be hurt by one well placed shot. Joshua is mostly hype, guys. He's good, but not THAT good, not even close. Wilder and Fury both beat him, and the previous generation of heavyweights (Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, Bowe), destroy all three of them.

have you actually watched on of wlads fights other then the one versus fury and AJ?

compare the fury one to the one of his fights in his prime. an off night is something that happens when you should feasibly be in your prime, youre not in your prime at 41. youre past it.

the fact that only a handful of guys have a shot at beating a 41 year old wlad is just a testament to how weak the HW division is, not exalting a 41 year old wlad or AJ.

LOL since when has Tyson come back from that kind of adversity that AJ faced last night..

Guy was a bully and a front runner who lost to the best opponents he faced lewis/hollyfield and got destroyed in his prime by Douglas..

Stand up to tyson and he wilts.. he had an aura i will give him that.. but hes arguably the most overated boxer in history at not even a top 10 Hw all time
