I Received My Ancestry.com DNA Results
My Grandmother bought me the Ancestry.com DNA test for Christmas, I sent the test out months ago. I finally got the test back. I was curious as to exactly what my ethnicity breakdown is. I was wondering if there could be anything I'm not expecting to see in there. As far as I knew I had Italian (Southern Italian/Sicilian), some German, some French on my moms side and Italian (Sicilian), French, Polish, Irish, Scottish, and English (relative came over on the mayflower) on my Dads side.
So the end result was
46% Italy/Greece
36% Great Britain (England, Scotland, and Wales)
10% Eastern Europe (Poland from my Father's side)
1% Iberian Peninsula
1% Northern Russia or Finland
5% Caucasus (Iran, Armenia, Syria)
Under 1% Ireland
Under 1% Middle East (Iraq)
So in the end I'm 95% European and 100% Caucasian. The thing that really threw me off is my moms grandfather on her fathers side was supposed to be half German and half French, we even have family buried in German cemeteries and I am not German or French at all according to the test. So my great Grandfathers German and French relatives most have came from somewhere else.
Also I'm not Irish apparently when I thought I would be somewhere in the 12% range, so I ended up finding out that my relatives with Irish last name came her from Glasgow as it says on their immigration papers, and my other Irish ancestor was Scotch Irish which are Irish people of Scottish ancestry. So no Irish blood just Scottish which I thought I was only a little of.
The 5% Arabic blood is no surprise its gotta be from the Islamic invasion of Sicily and Southern Italy. But in the end I'm basically half Italian and half British. I believe this test goes back 500 or 1000 years I've heard both. I thought I would post this because I thought it was pretty cool, and I made a thread months ago about the test asking questions and some people told me to let them know how it goes.
So the end result was
46% Italy/Greece
36% Great Britain (England, Scotland, and Wales)
10% Eastern Europe (Poland from my Father's side)
1% Iberian Peninsula
1% Northern Russia or Finland
