This. Most people couldn't guess the difference between a 5'10" guy and a 6'2" guy unless they were next to each other.

It's only advantageous in an anatomical sense to a certain length. OP is talking about being BIG, not being average. At this point it serves no evolutionary purpose and is just a preference.
