In the American system one billion is 1,000,000,000 and a trillion is 1,000,000,000,000 so one trillion is one thousand times one billion.

Bill Gates has given away a lot of his money and they say that he'd be worth more than Bezos if it weren't for his philanthropy efforts. Amazing considering he has sold off most of his Microsoft stock and stop working many years ago.

You people don't seem to realize this isn't cash in the bank. That's the value of his shares of Amazon. The shares could tank and take his net worth with them.

Selling them off isn't an option or it will absolutely crash the stock, and make him give up his significant influence in the company he created.

amazon is now one of the most diversified businesses on the planet - the only way they could tank is if there was a war or the government broke them up - in this global economy monopolies can be a good thing, sadly, since they will develop in other countries and we need our own giant corps to compete with them - google being as powerful as it is is incredibly good for america
