How do you guys go to the movie theatre?

Last night we went see IT, and it was probably the worst experience ever. We haven't been to a movie in about three years, but it looked like a good movie.

"Oh my gawd what is your durin"
"Why is yew walkin into the hous"
"Gaw look dat cake" when she was wearing those Jean shorts in the pharmacy
"Nah ah you best slap ya daddy fuh dat.. White people crayze"
"Oh my gad the door just shut I can't warrch"
"They is going bak n dat house aw hell nah"

Snap chatting the entire movie with screen brightness up, text messages that flash the flash of your camera bouncing off the roof of the theatre, texting the entire movie, non stop talking the entire ****ing movie, and it's not like I could stand up and tell anyone anything since we were completely surrounded.

I'm still so ****ing mad about it

Must be an American thing. In the UK everyone turns there phones off and it's rude to talk while the movie is playing.

I go to the movies about every other week. I go on tuesdays night (half price tickets) and I'll go to the latest showing. I'm usually alone in the theater or maybe a few others if it's a new movie.

Can't stand having other people ruin the experience.

I went to a filled up theater to watch IT. People would make noises, crack up, and make little remarks here and there. Wasn't as bad as you had it. Was a fun time watching IT.

Theater was empty, quiet as **** and I got prime seating. Enjoyed the experience. Also got lit as ****.

I go to alamo drafthouse 99% of the time for movies. It serves really good food, the best chips and salsa, cookies, and popcorn I have had. They have strict no talking or texting policies, and I would say 8/10 people going there are very big fans of going to the movies and respect it, the other small percentage learn to respect it but sometimes dont and the staff very promptly warns them and kicks them out if they keep it up.

you also get all the good quality chairs, space for both people to put their arms, special movie screenings every day of the week, tons of free movies and food discounts, events, monthly specials on the menu, alcohol of every kind, etc.... And the movie tickets are the same as the normal theaters. Food is the same as basic chain restaurants like chilis and tgifridays but better

We have VIP theaters here where it's 19+, the tickets are about double the regular price, you get a huge comfy seat, and they serve food and booze before the movie starts.

It's the only way to go. Let's be real, the more expensive ticket basically stops everything you just complained about.

Why didn't you tell them to shut up? When I went to see IT, there was a group of teenage girls making noises. Various groups of people told them all at once to shut the f up and that was it. We never heard a peep from them ever again.

Don't be afraid to speak up, theatres have rules and call people out if they break them.

When I went to see Jurassic World, there was this family that sat behind us, they just had to sit right behind us even though there were many seats still empty, and they were talking throughout the whole movie, in our ears just yapping. I wanted to so bad to just turn around and tell them to stfu, but we were the only two black families in there, so I didn't want to cause a scene and make us look bad. Just had to sit through and try my best to tune out their bullchit.

Other than that, usually you got some people who occasionally comment and react to the movie, but nothing too bad that make you wanna scream.

We have nice a nice theater chain where I'm from with a separate section for 21+ that sells alcohol with recliners and heated seats. No sharing armrests and reserved seating. Also in the big theater there's a balcony that you have to be 21+. Doesn't completely drown everyone out but it's better than nothing

^^^ From 1:30 that's how it was the whole time.

And this isn't even an inner city theatre. If you guys remember the movie theatre shooting from a year or so ago in Louisiana, that's the theatre it was. From the Trainwreck shooting lol. I'm surprised they reopened it.

I've never heard of a Drafthouse theatre, though. Sounds far better than typical theaters like The Grand. I was just trying to have a little date night with m'lady. So much for that

I go to "dine in" theaters with large seats. It keeps the fuk face people away since its more expensive and you have to typically buy seats online prior to going.

Middle-aged Brits are great at putting stupid, loud teenagers in their place, so luckily they usually don't even try their luck.

Try smaller cinemas or watching movies within the most unsociable hours you can squeeze things into (I know that ruins the enjoyment a bit but if you want to watch new movies that's about all you can do)

I don't even go anymore, movies are chit, food is overpriced and you can't bring your own food, people are morons and break my immersion all the time, tickets are overpriced. If by some miracle a good movie arrives, it's much comfier to just download the movie and watch it home

This. Reserved seating. Purchse tickets online. Comfy seats that fully recline. Blankets.

Das it.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

went for a matinee at 11am on day off and saw this. reserved seats. fat ass couple to the left of me with their fukking medium sized looking pizza box on my chair with other food items. they promptly moved it.

made stupid remarks throughout movie. whisper to your fat asss gf next time you tub of lard. hope they both have diabetes or come down with a heart condition. hope he loses a foot.

make note, make sure to go to a movie theatre in a more well to do city. but then ghetto ass ppl do the same thing these days. infiltrate other cities to get away from their own kind. ruins it for everybody.

nobody is safe.
