Rich Piana faked his death

Because his wife who he never actually divorced had so much chit on him and had a stake of claim to basically everything he has. He knew the shytstorm was brewing that was gonna inevitably wreck his life forever. So he grabbed all his cash and he booked it to another country to hide out l, drop some weight, prolly get a few plastic surgeries done and reenter society as a new person. He likely had plenty of money to be able to buy himself a Mexican citizenship card with all the good stuff that comes with a fake history.
