I'm confused why this annoys you guys? Would you rather be chasing for a long time then get turned down, or have the subtly mention it so you know?

I've had female friends tell me its obvious when a guy makes "effort" to talk to them. And if they are taken or not interested, they give out hints so feelings are spared.
