I just don't see why Jerry is blaming this thing on not getting check-ups. Obviously OJ had a big part in this. His heart was almost a kilogram. That's 2.20 lbs. I just looked it up, and an average heart weighs about 11 ounces.

Guy was 330+lbs shredded, and only like 26

He packed on mass way to fukkin quickly. Most olympia competitors are at their prime in their early to mid 30's, and dallas was already bigger than most of the guys on stage after only 5 or so years of serious bodybuilding training.

cancer and some other stuff would come up on check-ups tho
Crazy his heart was so enlarged at such a young ago tho, might be a birth defect and being 330pounds shredded bodybuilder made it much worse i guess

Mark my words there will be 10 to replace him.

RIP I wish he took it slower.

edit: Just looked at the autopsy report. Nearly all of his organs were twice the mass they should have been!

I've read countless scholarly papers on heart enlargement due to strength training. Weight lifting does generally cause left ventricular hypertrophy but does not cause increased blood flow like that seen in endurance athletes.

Endurance athletes have enlarged hearts too but the chamber size increases in diameter, therefore increasing blood flow. In weight lifting, the heart increases in size but chamber size does not increase therefore limiting blood flow when your body actually needs increased blood flow due to increased demand to feed muscles etc. When this happens, the heart is overworked and high blood pressure results. His heart literally probably gave up because it needed to pump so much blood through his body but his left ventricular hypertrophy prevented it.

TLDR, do cardio just as much as you do weight lifting. Strength training only is bad by itself.
