When you get 60+, it takes an insane dedication to diet to not become a lard arse

By age 60, your metabolism is shot. Your youthful hormones are declining rapidly and your stress hormones are increasing. You go and eat a cone of ice cream and you see a n9t gain of bodyfat. You enter Friday morning with 6 weeks straight of flawless eating and have a 4 pack abs, but you drink and eat tons of pizza and cookies and binge all weekend and by Monday your 4 pack abs are replaced with a bubble gut. You cannot win! You go and eat nothing but broc**** for 4 days and by day 5 there is no net fat loss.

Being older sucks. I mean there are perks, but not when it comes to looking young lean and strong. Every time you phuck your diet up you set yourself back 18 weeks. You eat a while pizza you set yourself back 9 weeks. It's a miserable life for a bber. Your chiseled jawline you had your while life is gone, your neck sags and jiggles when you move no matter how great your diet is. You eat 30 grams of fiber a day yet you haven't pooped in 4 days. You worked out hard for 8 weeks and yet you have made zero gains in weight or reps.

Metabolism drops about 100 calories a decade on average

100 calories is around a single slice of bread

The decrease is based on increasing inactivity and decreasing musculature

Don't do that and you'll be generally fine

What you're doing sounds dangerously close to binge eating and binge cutting tactics though. I do believe your metabolism slows down as you age but it can't be as bad as you say, certainly low carb cycling would help a lot during cutting phase or just a well planned diet in general with exercise. Cant you old farts get HRT though? Which can jump start your metabolism at least for a while?

If you have a solid fitness base from training your whole life I'd say it wouldn't be hard at all. Maintaining is much easier then progressing

Plus there's hormone replacement therapy which you would be nuts not to look into at that age
