what the **** @ Five Guys

I never bothered with 5 Guys burgers for awhile until yesterday. They're usually packed with people and everyone raves about them. I went there last night and got a bacon burger + fries. I was going to get a burger with cheese but I found out they put KRAFT CHEESE on it. lol serious? Local burger places around here use real cheese from local dairies.

Anyways,$11later I can say the burger is..... OK. I can make a similar tasting burger at home for less money. But why the fuark are people raving about Five Guys so much? Just basic ****, IMO.

I feel like the people who rave about 5 guys typically eat out, so the quality of the burger is impressive to them.

As someone who grills out at home frequently and makes his own burgers (really not hard at all), I just think they are alright. Definitely top tier of the burger/fast food joints, but I prefer getting a little creative at home with my burgers.

0% impressed with 5 guys. Smashburger, In n Out and Culvers all beat 5 guys.

For the most part, you're paying for the convenience.

It's better than your typical fast food burger, but you can still get in and out in less than 10 minutes. I don't think anybody is claiming that Five Guys is a gourmet burger joint, and not everybody has a Smashburger, In n Out, etc. near them.

If I want a decent burger but don't have the time to wait for my food at someplace nicer, I don't mind paying their prices. You can get a pretty substantial amount of food for less than $15.

As far as fast food is concerned ... Whataburger > All....

But the best burger I have ever put in my mouth was from a meat market who sold BBQ... this wasn't a restaurant... you walked in... ordered... paid.. and GTFO... but they smoked all of their burger patties with the brisket and ribs that morning....

Wait. What's wrong with American cheese on a burger?

And I like 5 Guys but I wouldn't put it in a top tier or anything. My personal favorite is a gourmet bacon and bleu.

I don't get the obsession with Whataburger. Put mustard on a Whopper and it's basically the same burger.



Red Robin is probably the best nationwide place to get a burger.

Only been a couple times, burgers were decent and fries were hnnngggggg. Would rather grill a burger at home tbh

While I'll get on board with the Whataburger posts, I've probably had about 50 5 guys double cheeseburgers & they've been consistently good every time. Can't say that anywhere else.

I've eaten 5 Guys maybe 5 times in my life over the last 10 years, and have never been impressed a single time. I thought it was a ripoff the first time, and still feel that way.

They were the first "Higher End Chain Fast Casual Burger Place" that started this whole trend. Luckily it seems to be dying down and many are going out of business.

around here theyre like 15 buck for a burger and fries. the burgers dont have much flavor do they even season the meat? i like how they give a lot of fries tho.

anyways i feel like i gain 10 pounds every time i eat there so fuk them.

Same here. I've had friends rave about burgers so many times when eating out, but I'm almost always unimpressed. I can make better burgers at home, even on a skillet inside, than the vast majority of restaurants. It takes very little effort.

we don't have many burger joints up here in the pacific northwest, five guys is pretty much it for "burger chains"

I personally like Red Mill burgers, but it's a smaller place. I think there's only 3 of them

5 Guys is good(most burgers are pretty delicious), but you can get a legit really good burger at a sit down place for $15. When that's your price point, people have the right to be snobby.

am i the only one that thinks burgers are better elsewhere - out at restaurants? i mean you can make decent burgers at home, but generally speaking they're more dry

restaurants use copious amounts of oil/ butter, etc. that i wouldn't use at home

although its also dependent on the meat. i have to say i did have a really good homemade burger when i got meat from the chelsea meat market in nyc
