Will Smith Netflix Original Movie BRIGHT comes out tomorrow (Reviews) ($90 Million)



Netflix's biggest budget original movie comes out tomorrow, and it's their most direct move against mainstream Hollywood yet

Starring: Will Smith and Joel Edgerton, directed by David Ayer of Training Day/End of Watch fame, Suicide Squad infamy.

This is a buddy cop movie set in a present day Earth where Orc, Elves magic etc are real. Will Smith's new partner is an Orc or Gollum or something, I don't know, and I guess there's some magic scepter they want to find for some reason? But I'm 100% confident of this: **** is about to get real.

Will Smith and David Ayer are both right at home in the buddy cop genre - Bad Boys is a classic, and if you haven't seen End of Watch what the fucc. Joel Edgerton was also terriffic in Warrior.

The only problem? Reviews are.... bad. Like, really bad.

Potentially a dark harbinger of things to come, Bright isn't only the worst film of 2017, it could be responsible for many of the worst films of 2018 and beyond.
Bright takes a bunch of gobbledygook from The Lord of the Rings, liquefies it in a blender and pours it liberally over the same "corrupt cop comes to a moral crossroads" blueprint that Ayer has been copying since Training Day.
That old Hollywood standby, the venerable buddy cop movie, may have met its anguished demise this holiday season. Will Smith just killed it.

damn I always get sad when will smith movies bomb but idk why its been happening for a long time. hes one of my favorite actors out there. just wish he could land a solid movie.

I'm sure the movie's been in development for a while, but on paper it seems like David Ayer wanted to make ANOTHER buddy cop movie and just had a bunch of body paint left over from Suicide Squad and went with it.

how much are studios paying those 'critics' to trash the movie?

never listen to critics. They're the ones who say last jedi was awesome. They will always kiss butt of the studios.

Did you watch the trailer? I've been following this movie with some interest, since I think its success/failure will be a big indicator of what comes next in the streaming/conventional media war.

I agree the fix could be in with critics since they're part of the "establishment", but honestly this looks terrible.

I am Legend bothered me because (and I know how "that guy" this sounds, sry) the book has a KILLER twist that they didn't have the balls to keep in, and had to give it a Hollywood ending. But yeah, on it's own merits it was pretty good.

my first though about a minute into the trailer was, "well this doesn't push a SJW agenda at all.". that alone would explain the reviews. I'll watch it this weekend and decide for myself.

They've got a live action Lion King coming out too.

Disney is treading on thin ice with these. If they fuk 'em up, they're gonna have a lot of people pissed off for ruining their childhood. Just look at the recent star wars backlash.
