No, ADHD isn't just rowdy kids with bad parents...No Prescription Drug Discussion...

Not sure why that stereotype won't die already.

Yes, there may be kids out there that are misdiagnosed.

But it is a real neurobiological difference that is genetic.
Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is associated with the delayed development of five brain regions and should be considered a brain disorder, according to a study published in The Lancet Psychiatry.

The study is the largest to look at the brain volumes of people with ADHD, involving more than 3,200 people. The authors say the findings could help improve understanding of the disorder, and might be important in challenging beliefs that ADHD is a label for difficult children or the result of poor parenting.
https://www.sciencedaily.com/release...0216105919.htm

ADHD often coincides with autism though it isn't clear why yet.
Until about five years ago, the American Psychiatric Association’s diagnostic bible held the two conditions to be mutually exclusive: Only in 2013, with the debut of the current “Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders” (DSM-5), did a dual diagnosis become permissible. But in fact, autism and ADHD often coincide. An estimated 30 to 80 percent of children with autism also meet the criteria for ADHD and, conversely, 20 to 50 percent of children with ADHD for autism. Given the size of the overlap, scientists are beginning to rethink the relationship between the two conditions and to look for common biological roots.

True ADHD isn't JUST rowdy kids with bad parents

but, it is also true that bad parents just chalk up their poor parenting to "muh kid has ADHD!"

ADHD is a result of kids having too much sugar and not enough ways of burning off excess energy. Yeah Let me 6 year old a bunch of sugary meals/drinks and then expect them to sit still.

I've never heard anyone say it doesn't exist at all. But they often are just chit kids who are misdiagnosed because parents need an excuse.

ADD and ADHD are fictions created to medicate boys who are too rambunctious in the classroom for female teachers to handle properly. The removal of recess from many schools, coupled with nearly 100% female teachers who treat boys like defective girls and are unwilling/unable to properly deal with the extra energy that young boys have, has resulted in an ever increasing number of boys being whacked up with these schedule 2 narcotics, that cause permanent and irreparable damage to their brains.

It's a combination of feminism dumbing down boys & modifying the school systems to cater to girls, coupled with Big Pharma's desire to push narcotics under the guise of "helping kids" with an illness that never existed in the 1st place.

Diagnosed with ADD at a young age and was never rambunctious in school crew, there goes that theory.

Because we've caught on to ADHD being bad parents with rowdy kids, they had to get the pills out somehow. Once we catch on to autism being bad parents with rowdy kids they'll invent a new 'disease'

Yeah because your memory of your childhood is super reliable, what with you being given a schedule 2 narcotic for the last however many years. You didn't even have to be "that" rowdy. Just enough that your teacher didn't want to deal with your ****, so they drugged you. Now you're here, defending your pusher.

FYI, ADD implies a lack of attention, not hyperactivity.

ADHD = rambunctious kids

ADD = kids who didn't give a **** about what the teacher was teaching

for either, they are way over-diagnosed.

It especially sucks in my case since I’m diagnosed as the “primarily inattentive” type, so I lack the hyperactivity. In fact, I’m very lethargic and have brain fog most of the time.

I exercise everyday (lifting and regular cardio), I’ve tried various diets (keto, paleo, etc), I’ve taken every vitamin or supplement that might help, I got my test levels checked and they’re in the top 2% of my age group, all my other hormones are normal, and I’ve been meditating nearly everyday for years. On top of that, I was aware of the possibility of having ADHD, but refused to accept it for years until I tried everything. All of that chit I did was nothing compared to getting treatment for it.

I went from getting F’s in fairly easy classes to instantly getting B’s and a few A’s without even changing ANYTHING. I went from unable to read past a paragraph to becoming a heavy reader and reading 110 books last year.

So yeah, I get really butthurt when people just brush it off as something made up when everything just seems to work properly for them despite them only doing half the chit I tried to manage the symptoms.

I don’t even like to tell people I have ADHD because of all the misconceptions. I just keep it to myself now and consider myself to now be on a level playing field now that I’m treated for it. Got treated for it back in 2011 at the age of 21 and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

There are some people who really need to be medicated.

I'd say close to 50% of the people on these meds don't actually need them. I have friends who got prescriptions as adults, purely for the stim effect. They brag about it like smokers brag about the new strain they discovered.

I'm all for anyone putting anything they want into their body, I just feel like if it's that easy to get speed, it should be that easy to get BB supps.
