Is it really possible for men and women to be just friends?

Something I have noticed on the misc and on the male dominated part of the internet in general. I went on a date Saturday with a guy who asked if I had any close male friends. I said one and he goes "poor guy, got lost on the way as he was trying to get into your panties." Then proceeded to go on a rant about how no man actually wants to be friends with a woman, that if she's hot they want to bang her and if she's ugly, she's worthless and adds no social value so they don't want to hang around her. 99% sure he was a Redditor, did not respond to his goodnight text.

Now, this guy is kind of a douche--no second date for him--but is this actually true? I actually like my male friend a lot, he gives way better advice than my female friends and is less drama. I don't think he was ever trying to date me, wet met at a show and just hit it off. He's never asked me to do any romantic type stuff, it's always just been chill. He fixed my sink last week and I gave him a basket of scones. Is this orbiter stuff? Have I unknowingly friendzoned someone?

Are all of a woman's male friends just waiting for their opportunity to bang her? Do you have female friends who you actually value/enjoy their non-sexual company?

Aware me, misc.

It is not possible for a man and woman to be just friends.

In before the creepy fake "nice guys" claiming they can be friends with a woman when they actually are just waiting for their chance to pounce when she is vulnerable and can get some rebound sex.

Its tough. Definitely chicks i didnt give a phuck about

When i think about it i think its more like forced interaction. Like a girl is in your class or is at work.. But not hanging out outside of those areas.

I think id feel pretty gay if i was hanging out with a chick and not smashing

Either way i think one or the other generally has the feelings as well

Yes, but there's nuance.

"Close" friends, absolutely not.

Part of a friend group, or somewhat acquaintances, then yes.

No...
"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

Now that I think, this makes sense. Most of my guy friends are via my social circle, I don't hang out with them one on one.

Had a couple guys say they couldn't be friends with me cause they'd never stop wanting more, which is fine. I just assume if they stick around for long enough, it has to be about more than that.

At least it likely starts out that way.

- school
- work
- relative or S/O of a friend that you are around when you spend time with your friend

Someone could still get feels, but those kinds of situations provide exposure for a male and female that are not attracted at all to find some other common ground.

That's super depressing tbh. I genuinely like hanging out with certain guys, just don't want to sleep with them. Even if they are good looking, for whatever reason, it's just not like that.

Guess I have to be suspicious of all my male friends now.

I can be friends with women only cause I have a serious girlfriend. If I was single? Nah. I’d want to pound em all.

I do. I just like hanging out with both. Obviously, have to keep some sort of boundary with male friends.

It's just ****ing aggravating to me that ever since puberty, I can't seem to be friends with a guy without it making someone suspicious.

This. I've hung around girls before and been buddies with them, as much as a man can be buddies with a female. It can happen, but you can't really be 100% yourself. It's worth noting that almost every female friend I've ever had (all except one, exactly) there was some kind of feelings brewing in some way. I used to be bros with a guy, occasionally hung out with him when he was with his girl (they invited me....) His girl starts taking to me a little too much for the boyfriend's liking (despite me being friends with him first) so he got butthurt and wouldn't let us hang out anymore. lmao. Dated a girl, used to hang with her and a couple of her friends. One friend had a similar sense of humor as I and next thing I know they're all accusing me of having feelings for the friend. lolno.

Seriously it's like if you're having too good of a time with a girl you have a platonic relationship with, you get accused of being an item one way or another.

The problem is if you’re even moderately attractive, your guy friend will absolutely fuk you if you’re both single. Nearly 100% of the time. If you don’t know this, you’re deluded.

It's not possible. Brahs and sloots don't have much in common. Often, the less they have in common, the more they are attracted to each other.

If you were married would you allow your wife to "hang out as friends" with a male "friend"? It's fukin weird. I could never imagine my mother hanging out with some guy she is "friends" with. This generation is fuked and you idiots doing mental gymnastics to twist your mind into believing the bullscheit you create is what fuked it. The reality is that men and women can not be friends. If you put a man and a woman in a room alone long enough they will eventually have sex. I don't know about you guys but I don't fuk my friends.

This may be true from a male perspective but I'd go celibate for eternity before I ****ed a solid percentage of men, including some of the ones I am friends with.

That's just how it is unfortunately. Usually it's a case of unrequited feelings on the guys' part.

Anyone that's attractive/famous/rich, regardless of gender will have to pick their friends carefully. A lot of people will want something from you. It's up to you to separate the wheat from the chaff.

It sucks, but it's a part of life, and it's a skill you're gonna have to develop to play the game of life.

Yeah it's REALLY not worth the hassle of having a good female friend. It works if she's part of a bigger overall friend group, but the one-on-one stuff doesn't work out. It may start off innocent enough, but nature likes to come and shake things up.

Both dont care to be in a relationship, both want to live lives but have fun. Sometimes its good to just have female company whats wrong with that. But the only real time this happens is if you known them for years and you more on a good friend family level. Now meeting someone new and being friends fkin lol..
