Had no idea Kristen Wiig's Mom is a former fighter pilot.
When she announced in her senior year at high school that she wanted to be a pilot a retired colonel told her "there are no professional women pilots." That was, apparently, a problem for her when she applied to train to be a pilot in the Air Force. They rejected her, but the Navy gave her the break—and, obviously, it was a very smart move, particularly for everyone aboard Flight 1380.
She performed because she's a career pilot, a fighter pilot, and an instructor. I love the way she says, "We have a hole in the aircraft and someone went out" using the same tone I'd use when asking someone if they want mayo or mustard on their sandwich. My favorite part is folks (okay, old ass, washed up men) on aviation forums complaining that she was "too calm." Hate it when my pilot is too calm. Just like when my bank account is too big and my tits are too big.

Good for her. Bright, competent, badass woman right here.
Train hard, train smart, have fun!

Strong generalization. Are you trying to tell me that a comparably capable male former fighter pilot wouldn't be able to keep their composure while flying a freaking commercial airliner? You understand that military pilots see **** way more extreme than what happened to this plane probably all the time, hence why it was really no big deal for her to keep her composure, as that is kind of a prerequisite skill for flying in the military in the first place?

This woman was capable and did her job. Thats it. But because she has a vagina, its going to be spun into some mystical feat which is actually a slap in the face of what feminism "should" be as it seemingly assumes that a woman shouldn't be able to do what she did, and hence because she did it its somehow what, more impressive?

Kudos to her for being so calm. Lets be real...the whole scenario was like 'out of the frying pan and into the fire'. The engine blows/busts a fkn window/suckin a poor passenger out and if that isn't bad enough....she has to try and land the plane in Philadelphia of all places. Word has it that when the scared as hell passengers got off and found they were in philly...they desperately tried to get back on the wounded plane? For real....
