Don’t listen to people who say 20’s are the best years

I used to think it would be game over as I hit my late 20’s, guess I was brainwashed by society.

Mid-30's and still hitting new peaks in terms of looks, wealth, confidence, wisdom, etc. I’m guessing it will go downhill within the next few years but for now every year I’m a better version of myself.

Some advice for you guys in your 20’s: focus on your own goals and self progression. That doesn’t mean be selfish, but it does mean to knuckle down and set some goals, both physical and intellectual. See sig.

Easy to say when the norwood reaper hasn't come for you yet...

But seriously, to all the guys who say your 30s are better than your 20s...How do you have time to enjoy life when everyone else your age is already settled down and expecting you to do the same?

Most of people who tend to complain around here are just crybabies with 0 resolve.

No **** if you're not doing anything to make your life better it's gonna get perpetually worse.

It's why many people peak so early in life because they live their lives on autopilot.
The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.

That's why grandma's apple pie rocks and yours sucks.

I've been thinking about this lately. What with advancements in our understanding of the human body and how to take care of it, people living longer, etc. There's no reason why your 20s are your sole peak years in life. I'd imagine if you have the right cards you can maintain your prime much longer.

Most men let themselves go physically when their career and/or wife/family starts dominating their time. Family makes sense to a degree, but don’t have to turn into a fat mess.

Not the best mindset to have brother. Why would you let other people's expectations hinder your happiness? It's YOUR life, not theirs. Do what you want, who gives AF what they want you to do.

Also, in my experience most people don't want you to be super happy and successful. They don't want you to be miserable and poor...they want you to be average and cookie cutter...like them. Crabs in the bucket.

I don't know mane. Part of me would trade it all in for youth again.

But just to be clear; Life isn't over no matter what age you are. Whether you are 60 or 30, life is how you make it. Me personally? I don't want to go through it on cruise control. I am scared of it, deeply. I am trying my best to stop it. I've seen it happen to so many friends and family. And at times I feel like it's an inescapable truth where no matter how hard you try the end results will almost always be the same.

I don't want to say my 20s were my best years. Hell I don't want to say my 30s were my best years. I want my life to be full of adventures with great highs and even lows. I want to feel good . I want to live life all through my life.
Kindness is all that matters in life

Same. Will be 31 in a couple months. For the past 3 years especially I would say things have been getting exponentially better for me year after year. The only way is up, bros.

Like fine wine boyos
Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.

Agreed. 30 was pretty dope. Life feels like it's on autopilot now. When ur younger you work harder and produce less. Now I feel I'm producing more with little/no effort.

Tfw your coworkers and friends don't understand why you go to the gym so frequently or why you choose to read philosophy or learn a new musical instrument.

Tfw when everyone you know is married.

Tfw your coworkers always making fun of you for choosing to read a book on the weekends rather than get girls.

Eh, I would give up the gained wisdom to be go back to my early 20s. I just don't like that I already notice my body is not as strong. I have to actually stretch a bunch before workouts or will pull a muscle. Never use to stretch and always felt fine years ago. My joints are noticeably more stiff in cold weather, metabolism isn't as fast even though I still work out the same. Hangovers from nights out drinking are only lasting longer and longer with each year.

Miss that feeling of being indestructible, now I have to take extra care of my body or i feel very destructible.

This. Had the best social life early 20’s and always had plans with friends every weekend. Now that I’m in my late 20s and friends are already in their 30’s, most of them has settled down, got married, had kids. They rarely go out nowadays so I’m stuck with my single friends and even then they don’t do chit anymore. These are the friends that never have plans but to go out to clubs. Too old for that chit now and it annoys me. Personally would rather hit a bar.

I need to find a more mature social circle that doesn’t go clubbing anymore but can have fun still. It sucks not having plans on weekends when you’re single. My last ex gf I spent my time with her most weekends and I’m starting to miss the company of a gf

I'm definitely enjoying my 30s. Earning more money, more confident, still keeping in good shape.

I think the only thing I miss about my 20s is not having 40 as the next milestone lol.

Does the whole "30s better than 20s bros, more money, more maturity, freedom, still can get younger chicks, etc." thing only apply if you had your chit together from a young age, and you picked a good career for yourself, which you have stayed in and excelled?

I'm about to be 28, and I just started my first real job working in public accounting. Not the most glamorous gig, but at least it can be considered a real career. Will my "30s" even be the kickass 30s they are supposed to be, where I'm manager in my career, making big $$$, relaxing, enjoying life, and single? Or will I be just an older version of a 22 year old, who has the same position and clout I do in life, except he didn't fuk around after high school and got his degree when he was supposed to?

but to be fair you're a compsci grad, so the chances are that your adult life (when you're earning) is going to be much better than your teenage years when you were a nerd. because now you get all the fun from being a nerd + the satisfaction of being successful, and the perks that coincide with that, like girls, cool apartment etc.

most people aren't nerds, and don't work hard. they peak in their 20s because that's when they're most attractive and they don't invest in any long term ventures like developing wisdom, financial freedom or even their physique.

think about it. most people get their satisfaction in life via hobbies that will never be a source of long term satisfaction, like watching tv/netflix/sports, playing video games or drinking with their mates. these things should be the cherry on top of the cake - not the cake itself.

so ironically, your post is wrong because your advice is correct. for most people, their best years of their youth are in their 20s because they don't follow your advice by working hard, which would lead to much longer term satisfaction in life.
to the best!

My mom is 63, just ran her first marathon this year and is currently on a 3 month backpacking trip in europe. Doesn't matter how old you are, if you take care of your body, you will always be in your prime. You're never too old to enjoy life.
