What exactly is the point of the flat Earth conspiracy theory?

With most conspiracy theories, you can at least identify some sort of motive someone might have had for conjuring up a hoax, no matter how absurd it might sound. For example, faking the moon landing would obviously have been great propaganda for the U.S. during the Cold War space race against the U.S.S.R. 9/11 being an inside job could have served a twisted politician's agenda to justify military action in the middle east. Vaccine truthers could be paranoid that someone is out to fukk up the population with contominated vaccines, whether purposefully or done with good intentions.

My point isn't to say my opinions on any of those, or to say there is truth to the tin foil hatters. My point is that while I see motives for creating hoaxes in those situations, I just don't see the motive for lying about the Earth being round if it is actually flat. So you flat Earth tin foil hatters need to explain why the hell someone would even want to falsely make up a round Earth in the first place. It makes no sense whatsoever.

I don't think the motivation is necessarily financially or politically driven. I think it's psychologically driven.

Have you ever noticed that people who believe in one conspiracy theory tend to believe in ten other ones?

If you believe in flat earth, then you probably believe in 9/11 government cover-ups and that President Obama was born in Kenya, etc.

they want to push the idea that we're completely controlled by the elite and enslaved on a sort of "prison" planet, and the elite lie to us to think we're on a spherical planet like all the others in our galaxy, but we're not... we're on some experimental space ship thing being punished

edit: the elite being interdimentional beings like reptillians or the anunnaki (who some believe created the human race to mine gold on Earth)

I get what you are saying, but it's still retarded. We are no more free on a round planet than we would be on a flat one, really. So the expirimental cage concept would work regardless of the shape of the planet.

I think the flat Earthers are possibly just fkn retarded.

The same reason liberals said Donald Trumps loan of $1M from his dad to start up his business was "a lot of money" yet said when he donated $1M to hurricane victims they said he was being cheap and he barely even gave a decent amount of money LOL.

Flat earthers don't have much to do with liberalism (or conservatism). Don't try to jam every topic in the world into blue/red rants, particularly in the general misc.

Some conspiracies are real and you should question a lot of things you hear.

The problem is there are people that area addicted to believing any sort of conspiracy theory. It gives them a sense of fulfillment from the idea that they are more informed than the average person.
