Gibson files for bankruptcy

The sell of guitars has dropped to a point that Gibson, Fender and Guitar Centers are all headed to bankruptcy.
The future of music doesn’t include people learning their instrument, the future is EDM. Bummer.

This. Don’t even play the guitar but imagine paying bottom dollar for a top quality guitar right now, what will it be worth in 50 years when guitars are extinct.

Exactly. Gibson shot itself in the foot so can't even feel bad for them.

GC actually can compete with online but they just are complete morons. They also need to not hire complete morons and it would help tremendously.

Instruments are one of the few things that it actually does make a difference buying from the store as opposed to online. Getting a guitar online without holding it, playing it, having it setup properly is a nightmare. GC should be hammering that in their marketing but never chooses to do so. I have only ordered a few online but only because they were dirt cheap and I can do most setup/mods myself. Every other instrument I've purchased I've bought in store and haven't had a problem.

Chit company that can't even stay afloat with sub-par materials, slave labor, and automation with 1000% markup. They weren't trying to stay open. They're being saddled with other debt from other companies for the write-off.

playing instruments is dead like rock music is unfortunately. Why would someone want to waste hours and hours learning an instrument, when they can just click their mouse and push buttons?

Sad thing to see. When I was in HS, their was a wide variety of music that people liked. Now it's either hip hop or EDM chit.

I wasted a lot of time on guitar growing up. I still have an electric guitar and a bass guitar. Both are just sitting there doing nothing really.

My cuz teaches guitar and drums in the SF Bay Area.
He has made a living at it for years, so some still want real music.

He’s implying that people used to play real instruments and make real music. Clicking a button isn’t playing an instrument.
