How many people do you think drive nice cars for validation from other people?

I have a friend with a decent car, he will go out of his way to get someone to notice him in it. He doesn’t work on it, doesn’t it take it to the track, nothing at all. I feel like a majority of people drive nice cars just for that occasional “nice car bro!”. I always lol when they brag about the HP their car has, as if they’re taking advtantage of it. Brb 20k car still travels the speed of a 200k car 99% of the time it’s on the road.

If you're not a diehard car person, why else would you not just buy a sub $10k fuel efficient sedan? That middle aged woman in her Porshe SUV doesn't give a chit about cars. It says "fuk you, my husband is rich and you're a piece of chit. u mad?"

People seek validation all the time. So it's no wonder people do it by buying nice stuff. FYI (I OHP 225 bout 6-8x) just wanted to throw that out there....

You can obviously tell who bought a car for the validation and you can tell you actually just wants it because they wanted it. The more someone talks chit, the less they've actually done with their lives.

this

i think the way you can tell when someone drives something for attention is when they trade their car in for something else within 2 years. its like the attention died down so now they want to regrow it.

If someone buys a vehicle for ANY reason besides its functionality (which can vary based on individual needs/wants), then they're doing it for validation. The degree of that validation seeking can vary as well. But people spending $60k+ on vehicles are definitely doing it largely as a display of dick measuring. Don't even get me started on people who pay out the asss to lease brand new vehicles every 2-3 years with nothing to show for their payments when the lease is up.

The funniest example of this is people who buy new full-size pickups without utilizing them in a functional way. At least half the people I've ever seen with pickups in general use them to haul stuff either never or rarely. Most blatant example I've seen of it so far was a 4'11" or so trans guy who used their brand new full-sized pickup as their regular commuter vehicle and never did anything that would require a truck.

I goof'd and bought a cert pre-owned 2015 mazda 3. Great on gas, all the bells and whistles for $14k

Should have bought a used pickup and a commercial mower instead.

Still kicking myself about this purchase.

I enjoy the attention, but only enthusiasts know that's it's fast. Unless I go fast, it just looks like a normal compact luxury car.

Yeah some do, but once you drive a really nice car it is hard to go backwards. And as far as attention goes, a hotty in a chit car or an expensive car is still a fkn hotty!

We have very expensive cars in our garage, but we drive our civic most of the time.
