China introduces real life reps and negs system to society.

Pro's:
- Pieces of chit red insects are kept in the gutter where they belong
- Good, high rep citizens get rewarded with preferential treatment

Con's:
- Make one mistake in life and you're mod negged by the government
- Huge underclass of reds, the gulf between the 'haves' and 'have nots' bigger than ever
- Government decides criteria for what makes a 'good miscer'
- Mind control
- People become automated drones no better than robots
Chinas creepy 'social credit' system

The Chinese state is setting up a vast ranking system system that will monitor the behaviour of its enormous population, and rank them all based on their "social credit."

The "social credit system," first announced in 2014, aims to reinforce the idea that "keeping trust is glorious and breaking trust is disgraceful," according to a government document.

Like private credit scores, a person's social score can move up and down depending on their behaviour. The exact methodology is a secret — but examples of infractions include bad driving, smoking in non-smoking zones, buying too many video games and posting fake news online.

1. Banning you from flying or getting the train.
2. Throttling your internet speeds.
3. Banning you (or your kids!) from the best schools.
4. Stopping you getting the best jobs.
5. Keeping you out of the best hotels.

What could go wrong? You don't govern and force behavior like this, a system of this nature will always get abused and used as leverage. You want incentives not something this dramatic and concrete. Then ask yourself who plays judge when things are right on the line? You will get people behaving a certain way not because it's the right to do, but out of fear. It's bad enough they filter nearly every form of communication over there. A system like this has way too many negatives vs positives.

Book recommendation for all three of you "Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom" by Corey Doctorow. The society in the novel is post-scarcity so the only jobs people have are to make the world more "bitchin" by doing cool stuff, and other than insane extravangances like living in Disney World they really only acquire it for the purpose of social clout.

He released the book for free maybe check it out.

It really is a good idea. You'll know who the diks are before having to find out the hard way. The only part I didn't like is the part about buying too many video games, even though I don't play video games. Sounds like they will use it as a tool for social engineering. I just don't see how buying too many video games makes you a bad person?

We already separate the wheat from the chaff here in Murica with the credit system. Just LOL at the sub800Cels...they are like the proverbial 'reds' of society. COnstantly getting negged by lenders, car dealers, etc. unless they have a hefty down payment. For the rest of us..it's like a 'get out of jail free' card or a Misc Platinum Membership.
