In.
The films are collectively a contender for GOAT. I’d say a few flaws overall don’t spoil them (i.e., Gimli as mere comic relief always bothered me, because he was supposed to be a swarthy bad ass).
The books are an experience. I read them every few years. Tolkien’s world is so deeply realized. It’s the fruit of decades of work, and everything is thought out and planned, as opposed to the fun but increasingly inconsistent and illogical world of Star Wars.
Favorite character: probably Gandalf the Grey or Gollum.

I love the hobbit movies.
I have always wanted to become a tampon. My dream is to be inserted into a woman's chamber of love and absorb her lady juices.

I love it when unknown actors do movies like this and are absolutely epic.
Look old af in that photo, especially Aragon. RIP.

The GOAT movies - can't see anything ever topping them for me. The series is actual perfection
Viggo still great in everything he is in. You guys need to watch Captain Fantastic if you haven't yet. His new film Green Book had a trailer come out the other week and it looks like another winner
Into the West is a banger as is May it be
Hopefully this Amazon series isn't a complete **** up
There's actually too many iconic scenes as well - love the camera work at the start of this clip when they run for Boromir

They've aged so well too, the Battle Of Helms Deep and the defence of Gondor are still absolutely epic scenes.
Liverpool FC (the feels right now).
Actually kind of enjoy CrossFit crew...

long movies are long
"An independent woman is a contradiction in terms. For woman's chief want is to feel that she is wanted. Therefore it is that with women, cruelty is more easily borne than coldness. Indeed, It is astonishing how much downright cruelty a woman will stand from the man she loves or has loved. What women admire is a subtle combination of forcefulness and gentleness. If a woman has to choose between forcefulness and gentleness, always she will sacrifice the latter." - Arnold Haultain

Don’t want to sound like one of THOSE guys, but I first read the books when I was 12 (same year I later started playing B/X D&D).
As a kid, my eyes glazed over at a lot of stuff (prose), but I certainly got the story. I made it a ritual to re-read them (almost) every year.
By the time the movies came out, my imagination had totally fleshed out Tolkien’s world and characters...I knew once I saw the movies those images would be forever replaced..
I was so happy the movies were so good...but a little sad that when you mention tLotR these days, most people only know the movies.
. The books were a sort of right to passage for nerds of my day.
